Not one mention of Martin being at fault.

WOL again prove the Obafemi point on 13:22 - Jan 29 by STID2017

Exactly.
No amount of arms around the shoulder will change that.
I don't blame any player for wanting the best for themselves.
However they need to act professionally at all times.
As is well documented, Pato, Obafemi and now Whittaker have failed to do this.

There has been no arms around any shoulders.

Agree with people acting professionally at all times, that included Russell Martin.

I’ll go all day guys, I won’t be sitting here while a narrative gets spun that Russell Martin is some blameless victim of player power.

I will continue to add the facts into balance it out, whoever that upsets I couldn’t give a monkeys.

It’s a happy consequence of moving clubs, everyone knows that.

Grimes could have done the same, but he’s treated with respect by Martin so happy to stay. He knows he can make a shed load more if he left his contract run out, and it would be silly to say he isn’t motivated by money, we all are to an extent.

But that isn’t the instigating factor behind them refusing to play. They refused to play largely because of the manager:

Obafemi - hadn’t got on with Martin for weeks and months. Was dropped before he downed tools.

Pato - hadn’t got on with Martin for the best part of 8 months, he’s downed tools because of Martin. Don’t believe he particularly wants a move, his best mate Liam Walsh is around and he’s picking up a decent wedge late in his career, but he can’t stand Martin and the feeling is mutual.

Whittaker - I know less about this case but it seems pretty obvious to me. Martin shunning him after scoring a hattrick and farmed him out on loan. Called him back and told him he still wasn’t in his plans - refused to play to move away from the manager that is stunting his career.

I imagine he would be doing the same if a fellow championship side were making a play for him. He just wants to play, hence why he was annoyed he was called back from loan.

So again, players to blame too of course - but Martin and his awful man management is a key mover in all three situations.

Again I ask, what other 3 players have refused to play in a single season for us before? This isn’t normal.

Because they all want more money and couldn’t care about the club. Nothing to do with Martin.

But it doesn’t, you are removing the key reason.

With a manager that treats him with respect, he doesn’t refuse to play. He may hand in a transfer request, he may be vocal about leaving… but he doesn’t refuse to play.

You say whenever it happens there is a move to a bigger club involved. Who is after Pato then? Coventry? Massive.

I notice you are focussing on the most volatile of the three too. Let’s touch on Pato, you put that down to his contract, but he’s got one now… and he still refuses to play at times and Martin still ostracises him… do you think he’s after another contract or do you think they may not get on?

Be brave and admit that.

Ok. Let’s do them all.

Obafemi - Cut and dried. Starts every game this season until deadline day. Doesn’t turn up September 1st. Refuses to play the next game.

Paterson - Happily playing under Martin, one of our best players at the time, forges an excellent partnership with Piroe. Playing every game, triggers the one year extension. Club announces that on its website. Suddenly very unhappy as he believes the way he’s playing deserves a contract extension. Immediately in the wrong frame of mind to play football.

Whittaker - Doesn’t want to go on loan. Gets sent on loan twice. Doesn’t want to come back from Plymouth as he’s doing really well there and faces a battle to get in our team. Martin also doesn’t want him to come back and makes that clear. Comes back because he’s forced to. Concrete offer from a much bigger club. If he plays he can’t go there until the summer, if they don’t turn their attention elsewhere. Refuses to play.

None of that means relationships with Martin haven’t broken down since their refusal in the first two instances. Neither does it mean Martin hasn’t washed his hands of them. They are simply the reasons they refused to play for the football club. In Whittakers case I’ve got every sympathy for him.

It’s certainly much to do with Martin, hence why he’s had more people refuse to play than any other manager.

Pato is not trying to force a move, Whitaker wouldn’t if he wasn’t treated the way he has been.

Incorrect.

- Obafemi didn’t refuse to play first time round, Martin gave him two games off. What would be the point in refusing to play when the window closed? Your theory just doesn’t stack up.

He refused to play only recently, that was after being dropped by Martin as I showed you, long before Burnley came in.

- Pato, agreed… but you have left out the key component of once he got that contract, the relationship breakdown was so bad with Martin that he has continued to tussle with him. We are now at a point where even with Pato works hard, he’s not picked. He’s refused to play for Martin several times now, again you are confusing the initial reason, with the continued reason.

- Whittaker, agreed… had Martin given him a chance when he clearly deserved it rather than send him away, and then tell him he won’t play even when he comes back, then he may well not have forced a move.

You recognise relationships have broken down, but refuse to accept that it’s one of the main reasons they are looking to go elsewhere.

It’s bizarre.

I love the fact you determine who is correct based on how many likes you got.

I think I got 2 downvotes once for saying giving to charity is good.

When you are as correct as often as I am, people jump on any opportunity to disagree, you will be the vessel for that.

Keep chugging along though by trying to explain that 6 fall outs and 3 refusals to play is completely normal behaviour. It will probably make sense in your head and allow the Martin lovers an escape from the cold reality.

I can go all day champ.

The latter part of this thread is predominantly me and you disagreeing. The majority of my posts don’t have any votes, positive or negative.

People don’t then randomly stick votes on the same post just to get one over on you. It was just a good post that people agreed with. Love the downvote to keep the numbers down by the way.

I agree though, you’ll beat me in a war of attrition every time. Quiet Sunday yesterday which was the exception not the norm. I’ve got too much on to be arguing on here all day every day.

Of course they do, if it aligns with their narrative then they will upvote instead of typing “yeah what he said”.

It’s predominantly used as a trolling exercise when debates get lengthy. The better the post you make the more downvotes you tend to get because what you say is so affective it annoys those with the opposite view or an agenda which opposes that reality.

I’ll beat you in the war of attrition and the war of debate; I only debate when I know I’m correct.

You are going to lose in every single aspect, especially when you can’t even keep up with your own story.

“Martin is not blameless”…. “It’s not martins fault”

“Obafemi refused to play”…. “Russell dropped Obafemi”

Yes, but then they’ll do it frequently. Not all on the same post.

Notice you didn’t down arrow my other posts. It gets to you sometimes doesn’t it?

You realise refusing to play straight after the deadline day and being dropped later in the season (as well as the previous season) are separate incidents?

You’ve got my attention until about 8.45

You reckon they spend all day on here upvoting every post? No, they will wait for one of the gang to pick a post and then all make that stance on the single post because it displays a more powerful endorsement to the likes of you who cares about those things, to keep fighting the view that threatens their narrative.

I very rarely downvote anyone; I only do it “politically” when I know someone is only doing so to make a petulant lazy jab without having the bravery to type. I nullify this tired and rubbish practice, nothing on here gets to me. Let alone contradictory and weak views that are combated with absolute ease.

Obafemi refused to play in one time period. That was this transfer window.

In the games prior to that he was dropped.

The previous one, the one you keep referring to, he was dropped then too.

Who are you kidding, I’ve had your attention for years. I’m the first username you look for when you come on here, let’s not pretend otherwise now…

Absolutely, board politics is rife here.

As I have told you, I get downvoted by the gang for saying charity is a good thing. If you replied saying I was wrong about that you would get a load of upvotes from the usual mob on here.

To negate their upvote is to take away their voice in a lot of occasions. Winds them up a treat, just like it appears to do with you.

You always leave with your tail between your legs in debate so this won’t be any different, you disappeared for months the last time I showed your agenda against Cooper… and even more so now it’s dawned on you that you have got your timelines all wrong and your story now makes no sense.

I will look forward to you getting brave again and having another go when you have gotten over your latest disappointing show.

I’ll give you an upvote to celebrate
