I can’t think of another prime minister who has given a lordship to their brother and nominated their father. So it is shocking, yes.

I’m not impressed with our politicians at all but there are some good guys on both sides. Boris is an outlier. He’s a different breed.

There no doubt cronyism affects all walks of life and most political parties, but it seems to be on another level at the moment and the current Conservative Party particularly under Boris’s watch is at another level. There are controversies galore, we’ve had the Lebedev business, Richard Sharp the Chair of the BBC who happened to source a loan for Boris, the aborted attempts to appoint Paul Dacre to the Ofcom role and that’s off the top of my head. The Lavender list business is almost 50 years ago, the Boris stuff is going on now.

My opinion, the good guys are the outliers, the BS merchants like Bojo are the majority these days. Nominating his father, I have to ask, what reasons has he given to support that nomination? I mean, most of th Lords and ladies have only ever been self serving, greedy, selfish politcians. Or they have been major donors to political parties. Stanley doesn't fall into either camp and he's not a church leader. He hasn't been in politics since 1984 and if he didn't deserve one back then, the only reason can be Bojo looking after his pops in yet another act of cronyism. Surely even Sunak can see how bad this would look and won't make any meaningless excuses? If this happens there should be a mass march on parliament, we should turn out in our millions and demand the Lords be abolished.

I agree with you, but if Labour would have been in power as long as the conservatives, there would have been just as much sleaze about.

That is an opinion but s impossible to prove. The absolute facts are that this tory government are the most useless, most corrupt, deceitful and disingenuous bunch in my lifetime. Given the standards this last 40 years, that took some doing. Even Tony Bliar wasn't this bad.

Ok too far back for some . how about Blair , under Police investigation and the first one no less to be questioned by police as part of a political corruption inquiry and Labour’s chief fundraiser Lord Levy who was at the time nicknamed “Lord Cashpoint” or Cameron's last hurrah , most of the then No10 staff had awards , they're all at it regardless , but I will wait for the standard , yes maybe but this lot is worse etc, no their not they're all the same , how do you rate croynism or corruption ? is there a secret league table somewhere . By the way even Lloyd George had his coat tails tweeked

Correct Blair made 100s of labour appointments to the during his government. It is time we had a elected Lords of about 200 members plus perhaps 50 to 100 appointed by elections amongst their current 700 members to bring in some balance and experience.

Just scrap it. We elect a government to run the country and make the rules. Why have a veto above that., we are not living in the 14th century.

Totally agree , why do we need yet another tier of legislation although as limited as it is ,it still can and does affect Governments decesion making , no wonder folks voted out of the EU when you consider the amount of legislation which was created in Brussels

| Liar Johnson on 16:42 - Mar 7 with 1576 views | SullutaCreturned | And lets remember, when the tories call the Sue Gray appointment dodgy it's yet more lies and diversion from them, who was it who appointed top civil servant Lord Frost to the government and then on into the Lords? This is a long term problem, it's been going on for decades and the people we need to solve this problem are (yet again) the people who created the problem. There's a pattern here...corrupt, lying politicians... | | | |

Were any of them immediate blood relatives? Blair’s legacy is mixed to say the least. Boris achieved the square root of s*d all. (Except perhaps the dissolution of the Tory party for a generation) The whataboutery on here is first class. No condemnation of Boris (by some), just “what about Labour?” I’ve been a floating voter over the years including voting Tory, but this incarnation since 2016 are a shambles.

And now this ….. Fatty is not going to starve after all. Johnson can pay that £800,000 loan back to his distant Canadian cousin now then…? Unless it was really just a gift and a way of avoiding tax. And not having to declare a loan from family member. How lucky was all that …..
