It certainly forced me to think about it - but I have never experienced or witnessed anything like that (maybe because I traveled during the day time?). Says a lot about our society where that has now to be a consideration. Sad times.

I could never do it myself. Many times i saw less proficient ppl pass me on the promotion ladder - not that i actively looked for it, simply by sucking up to their supervisors and stating the obvious at meetings etc. I have too much integrity and principle to lower myself to those levels, but that's just me

If someone doesn’t see the value of networking then I would question their own sense of self importance when it comes to business. Those that think they are too good to follow the tried and tested method of success… usually aren’t. Then left blaming others for their lack of progress. Progress and success is available to anyone who applies themselves.

Earns 84k a year in his current capacity. Records over 100 hours a week at certain times. An example of what you get for hard work and dedication to better yourself. And an example to everyone what can be achieved regardless of your politics.

But you worked/work for a business, the value that you can bring by networking, collaborating and ensuring a productive and fruitful idea sharing environment is infinitely more valuable than someone who claims to be valuable but refuses to involve themselves in the networking side of the business. Again, it’s usually those types of people who then blame others for not progrsssing and having a bitter approach to viewing the workplace and their colleagues.

Networking and noshing is not about sharing ideas in a fruitfull team environment. It's the opposite, and it disgusted me

By far the largest amount of networking in the world happens in masoic lodges and is a closed shop unless "invited".

I’m afraid you are quite wrong Masonic influence is a fraction of what it was Moreover the Craft is more open and many practices no longer secret There are groups in all walks of like The WelshChapel network was as incidious as anything [Post edited 21 Mar 2023 22:47]

Obviously as the proletariat far outnumber the rich and powerful, that's why unions work and what the word union mean, together.

Unions are a lot more transparent than the masons. I’d say lots of networking goes on in political parties. I’ve seen quite a few people promoted beyond their capabilities on account of networking or championing the flavour of the month. Quite often they move around a lot, usually it’s because they’ve been rumbled and they need moving on.
