All countries names are made up by people who started naming areas they lived in, or invaded. Yes Northern Ireland is a made up name but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist AND it exists because democracy rules and the people of Northern Ireland have not yet demanded a referenda on remaining in or leaving the UK.
Are you really comparing modern day Northern Ireland to modern day Ukraine? We cannot change what happened 100 years ago, you do understand that? If Ireland and ALL of the people on that island decide it's what they want then theu will unify, until then it's the ROI and NI.
