Not really.
I would say Piroe, Cundle, Manning, and Cullen improving during his time at the club is more relevant. I could add Darling and Cabango.
And of course Wood who is a Martin signing. As was Downes.

Not really.

It is and never has been all roses.
I could put up another ten at least less favourable reports. But that’s the way it is on a website that produces 400 plus articles a year for free. You see they are not general opinions but reports. There is a difference and we have to reflect that.

Interesting discussion. Going a bit off topic perhaps but there seems to be two strains of thought on this forum:
- Martin always knew what he was doing, just didn’t have the players to deliver it, now it is all coming together, therefore deserves the adulation he is getting (and always did)

- Martin succeeds when he ditches Martinball and lets the players express themselves, as he did in the promotion-form sequence earlier in the season and is doing now. But he has a worrying tendency to revert to his preferred modus operandi after a mauling. If he had a lazy eye and would benefit from a visit to the dentist, he wouldn’t get half the fan worship he attracts
I don’t think I’ll ever like the guy but I am enjoying the football and I am very happy to see the players enjoying themselves too and that’ll do for now. | |

The four years of history suggest Martin is a "mid table manager" in the mode of Tony Mowbrey with a beard. His CV is patchy with good runs interspersed with very long bad runs with associated hammerings by the better teams.
It is always tempting to think the model and historical precedence has been broken i during each god run ( against weaker teams). So is this particular good run any different from the other good runs seen at Swansea and MK Dons over the last 4 seasons. Has china cup of mediocrity been finally smashed to bits.?

I like to think the So called January 'fiasco' 'disaster' 'shambles' was actually the making of Martin. Those shrewd Americans pulled away the crutch of spending and told Martin to get on with it stop making excuses and "sweat the assets" including the sulkers and malcontents unhappy fringe players. Fisher, Patterson and Whittaker. Obafemi was jettisoned.
If Martin has had the long walk to Damascus and seen the light to consistency and point harvesting efficiency then the omens are good. On the other hand if Martin has not changed and developed just like Wood has, for example, then it will be back to inconsistency again next season with player trading model to blame. |  |
