Personally, I thought CD was a perfect fit for us according to reports on here, ie. “We are aiming high” and he was young and hungry to step up to be a manager. So was he the “Aiming high” candidate ? Or maybe s there a plan B?

| Same old, same old with these owners on 23:46 - Jun 16 by Dr_Winston | People need to stop pretending that Potter, Cooper and Martin have left or are leaving for any reason other than their own interests. Roberto Martinez's useful idiots excused him for leaving by pretending that he'd have stayed if only the club had spent £1.5m on Gomez. It was obvious cobblers then and the same argument is obvious cobblers now. Nobody takes the job here without being well aware from the off what the situation is. It's particularly crazy that there are people out there trying to claim that Martin hasn't been backed despite us transferring £2m to MK Dons for players he specifically demanded and sticking with him despite a run of form that would have seen him sacked anywhere else. |
I don't pretend anything, 3 managers couldn't wait to get out of the door, that speaks volumes, we won't get anywhere with Levien calling the shots. Potter. Cooper and Martin asked for help all three were obviously ignored so they rightly left, all three can't be wrong! Martin, had a vision that we clearly couldn't finance, I don't doubt that, I must have said it a thousand times on here that he wanted to follow Peps idealistic views on playing the game, that was impossible to achieve on the budget and playing staff we had, but he insisted on perusing that aim, until the inevitable happened with the shit hitting the fan, he then had to pull it out of the bag, which in fairness he did in those last 9/10 games, it would have been interesting to see what he could have achieved next season. Anyway lets see what happens in the coming months, after the promises that were made after the January window. [Post edited 17 Jun 2023 0:10]

Keep up? We can accept the championship price now so there isn’t a case of paying him off. We are arguing over £400k. Keep up!

It suits the narrative to believe that all three were basically the managerial version of Oliver Twist. In reality all three were given significant financial backing to the extent that additional funds have had to be injected into the club in recent seasons to cover the losses incurred by the playing budget. That is indisputable and a matter of record.

It’s obvious that Martin jumped ship as soon as a better offer come along, those who hung onto his every word are all feeling gutted. It’s blatantly obvious that Southampton with parachute payments is a far better managerial position than the Swansea job, those believing that nobody wants the Swansea job are deluded. Martin will be sacked by Southampton before Christmas he’s a fraud & shouldn't be included in the same sentence as Rodgers Potter & Martinez.

It's also got the added advantage of being only about 90 minutes drive from Brighton. The idea that he wants out because he's "not been backed", and not because he's been offered a whopping great payrise and the ability to move back home is absolutely batty.

Truly,I d rather be proven wrong but ,folks, this was always going to happen. Martin is quite brilliant in all the wrong ways He caught us out He took fans for mugs He should not be at our club The cost of keeping him a day longer is too much. Frankly,he turns my stomach and always has done

Never mind,4 weeks and counting, of lost pre-season for him. Now where have I heard that previously as an excuse? Hmm He’s printing his own “Get out of jail free” card the longer the fiasco continues. Perhaps the delay is the haggling over Andy Parslow’s compo? I’ve heard our board are taking him to a tribunal, to claim for money back as a set piece coach, for false representation, as described in the trade’s description act

In short, he has been nothing short a poor choice whose exit is proving a problem. He is and has been a problem, more than some will know. Our owners have let us down by allowing him to get away with murder

That is indisputable and a matter of record. No one is arguing that those three weren't backed, but come the January window all three felt that they needed to add one or two pieces to the squad, after assessing the squad they had since the summer before. Funnily enough that's why there is a January Transfer window. Its funny on how managers are always to blame and these owners get off scot free with some supporters.

Why do you think Potter, Cooper and now Martin have left, people need to open their eyes. I'm happy being a midtable Championship club, its about our dap, lets not pretend otherwise. |
So you are sick to your back teeth of people having a different opinion to yours, on a football forum, where opinions count 🤔, surely that's what a forum is all about. Do you really think the owners don't want to see us back in the EPL?

Yeah, that'll be it, Yanks are great best thing since sliced bread, its all been the last 3 managers that's at fault. You need to ask yourself that same question! cause from what I've read from you is that these owners can't do any wrong, yes they've run us sustainably and they deserve the praise for doing so. But I don't think they've cared one way or another as to whether we go up or not, in all honesty, things might change with the new investors coming in, only time will tell. I've said it before and I'll say it again, a middle table championship club is who we are, geographically and financially, with the odd flirtation with the playoffs, that's in my opinion for clarity. I'm in no rush, I waited a long time to watch us in the first division then another 30 to see us in the Premier League. Wiĺl the current owners show that patience after all I've seen a shed full of owners as well.

I think the current owners will want us back in the top flight ASAP, but they'll do it prudently no doubt, they supposedly spent £100m in the take over. When Morris invested £10m last week I'm sure I read it was for 20% of the shares, that would make the club valued at £50m, so our American friends need for us to get back up in order to get their money back.

I would have sacked Martin in January not given him more money. The last 10 games of the season proved that moving away from his philosophy on football to using a very good squad to their strengths would have resulted in at least the play offs. where have I stated " it's all been the last 3 managers that's at fault"? Or even indicated it. Again, where have I stated " the owners can do no wrong " . You're sounding rather mad max. When they bought into the club their stake was about £60M for 60%. That was the consortium of 32 investment. They have since invested more from convertible loans. Their shareholding has since been diluted and is probably currently worth at best £30M probably less. This will be diluted again if more investment is forthcoming, due to dilution. Every year we stay in the Championship we lose between £10-15M. There is no time for baby steps or they will never get their money back even if promoted. Personally I'm enjoying the championship and have more patience than the owners.
