Half a million for the winter World cup. Gareth Bale and co helps out Swansea. Swansea city is a Welsh club and this is why it get a decent pay check. Ntcham also played for Cameroon.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/fo

Swansea need to get more Welsh internationals and Wales more qualifications. $$$$. The FAW need to understand Swansea play proper football and use the Swansea philosophy as a template for Wales.

Cabango, Cooper, Cullen, Congreve, Lloyd, Cotterill Josh Thomas along with old boys Davies Rodon, Roberts, James have all played modern progressive football where player are comfortable in possession and always have a pass available.

This is of no use if the manager has a different route one philosophy like Page. Care has to be taken in appointments. FAW should not simply do what is cheap and convenient. The Welsh way has to mean something.

Getting promoted with non Welsh players would be far more lucrative.

Club football is far more important.

It's an interesting question. I do think that the two are intelinked though, a better production of Welsh players would lead to a better Swans seeing as we have the best academy system in Wales.
Importance is down to personal preference, I enjoy going to both Swansea, Wales and my local Welsh League side and want all 3 of them to do as well as possible.
I have seen some mention of Billionaire money etc below, having been to these big clubs they are pretty soulless. Nothing more than an exhibition or tourist attraction. I don't think that'd be for me.

Your British fella end of.

If you are so in love with Wales why not support a team who ply their trade in the LOW as you hate everything English.

Take the forum idiot with you 👍

If you support welsh nationalism and detest the English then you really should not support a team playing,as it always has,in the English system.
TNS very “ successful but not sure their visit would impress a Swansea City fan .

"If you support welsh nationalism and detest the English then you really should not support a team playing,as it always has,in the English system".

(Why not?). Swansea fans already "detest " Cardiff (allegedly) and play them every year. Are you suggesting Swansea should refuse to play Cardiff.?

You are pro English and allegedly support Swansea City with the best of them. You position as i understand is you love the club but not the city, region Wales or fans.

By that logic you would be happy if the club was relocated close to your house around Warrington perhaps? . There is a tidy rugby leagues stadium up there I recall driving past.

I lived and worked in England for several decades. If i detested the English I would have stayed in Wales. I love being Welsh and British but put more emphasis on being Welsh. Most English people and Scots use those names not British. Many English people and foreigners conflate English and British as the same thing.

The flag waver wants fans to make a choice. We can have it both.

I get the Welsh league may not be some peoples cup of tea, but at times last season I much preferred watching my local in the Cymru South.

That was in the days our third team played in the Welsh league and out first team played the the Welsh Cup along with teams like Shrewsbury, Chester, Hereford. Sadly all banned by the FAW in the mistaken belief it would make the league if Wales better.

Not entirely sure if banned is the correct conclusion to it. As Swansea and Cardiff were represented in the FA Cup competition for their European place it would make the Welsh cup European place ineligible if they were to take part. If the FA cup place was relinquished maybe it'd be possible. Although I'm sure Uefa wouldn't be happy with that.
Swans Youth can compete in the other cup as there is no European pot.
The FAW have messed up a lot with the Welsh league and continue to do so, but i think it was more a Uefa issue.

FAW asked Merthyr, Barry Bangor, Newport, Rhyl and Colwyn Bay to sign up with the league of Wales to improve its quality. They all refused and some went to court.

Bangor, Rhyl, Barry after joined and recently Colwyn Bay I read somewhere. Newport manged to get back into the EPL which just leaves Merthyr of the objectors.

Merthyr have an annual struggle to pay the bills. The logic for them to join the LoW grows louder every season. If they get some success logistics would get very difficult. Having said that Merthyr to Bangor is a bit of a hike.

The only reason for Merthyr to stay in the English system is to follow the dream of football league status.
Reality is that without a billionaire type backer this is simply not going to happen.

Nobody knows or cares how they get on against say Weston-Supermare, Cindersford, or Truro.
Its all fairly pointless.

Contrast with the coverage, standard, increasing interest and now better facilities in the Cymru Prem. Plus the reward of European football every season.

TNS or Barry or Penybont away to Merthyr on a Friday night under the lights live on tv would be a cracker.

But is decision only they can make.
Everyone respects that.

Apart from all the bought in players who gave us seven years in the PL.

Thats why i said ….

‘Lets not blur the argument for the hard of thinking.

We all celebrate our first team winning - and that means getting the best players you can. jDG, Leon, Bony, Nathan, Wayne, the big Pole, Rangel, Roberto, Siggy, Scotty, the Evil Genius, Trunds all a joy.
And money helps.

This thread is about our ability to produce young welsh qualified olayers who are good enough to get a first team jersey at Swansea City. And hopefully Wales. We are good at this - as you say, always nice to see it. Many of us remember Curt, Robbie, Charlo and Wyndham. ‘

Try and read the United Nations charter it might give you a clue as what a nation or Country is.

Wales, Scotland, Ni and England are not sovereign Nations or countries. They are regions of a sovereign Nation called the United Kingdom of Great Britain and NI.

Just as the USA is made up for 50 States. Germany is made up of 16 Federal states some of which use to be countries over 150 years ago. France is made up of 18 regions, 13 of which are in mainland France 5 of which are overseas.

Countries evolve and change and trying to state what may or may not have been the case a 1000 years ago does not tye present day realities or states.

Even your hated England did not exist 1200 years ago it was seperate kindoms, mercia, Wessex and Nortumbria.
Even your beloved Ireland did not exist back then but was made up numerous smaller kingdoms like Munster, connaught and Leinster.

Lets do this as if you were 4 years old.

As I have stated above the UK is a soveriegn state.
That is a fact.

England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland are all nations.
The political union of these nations (ie the north of Ireland) is the UK.

This what the BBC has to say on the matter updated as of May 2023 ..

‘The United Kingdom is a state made up of the historic countries of England, Wales and Scotland, as well as Northern Ireland. It is known as the home of both modern parliamentary democracy and the Industrial Revolution’.

Please feel free to point out where the UN Charter says different.
I will then go and tell the bbc that they are wrong.

The fact you think Scotland and Wales are regions shows you have no grasp of this topic. Its just unfounded assertion after unfounded assertion.

Wales is not a sovereign state like Ireland, but it is a nation like Ireland.

Put simply - you are still wrong. This is a matter of fact, not opinion.
