Apparently it's doing better thn some thought and we are not bottom of the G7.

So maybe don't 100% believe estimates and don't keep writing the UK off because it suits your agenda?

Which is why we need to end our reliance on their oil. It’s going to take time, but we should be diversifying and moving over to other sources of energy. Starmer previously mentioned a sovereign wealth fund wind generating electricity supply, if it was big enough that could help keep prices down a bit.

I wish I could live long enough to see us end our need for oil.
Then ,despot countries would lose their grotesque wealth

Even if we stopped all fossil fuels tomorrow, it will take centuries for co2 levels to drop. It's not like turning the thermostat down. That's even if mans 0.4 of 0.4% of co2 added is making any difference at all

None of the utilities should ever have been privatise, they should all have been run as not for profit and used to keep prices down.

Ending our reliance on oil is going to take us well past 2030.

They only people who benefit from public owned utilities are ye civil servants running them. Nationalised services are riven with over staffing, Inefficient working practices. You only have to look at local councils and the NHS to see this.

That's how it used to be, it doesn't need to be that way again.

Your trouble is you're stuck in the past on this, the problems you mention are to be learned from not used as an excuse.

Change can only come if we make it and the privatised utilities are still going to end up costing the tax payer as they have run the services into the ground and taken all the profits to be shared amongst their rich friends.

Look at the sewerage scandals, thes water companies are a national disaster, a national disgrace and should not remain in private hands because the general popuation is suffering the effects .

The whole country has been run into the ground by our corrupt and negligent politicians.

Pity Russia has closed down the Ukrainian nuclear power station they captured can only result in more CO2 being released into the atmosphere.

Fortunately some of us are generating our own electricity and feeding into the National grid.

Some of us understand that it is individual actions that helps not people complaining about CO2 and carrying on producing by using Fossil fuels etc.

How much do you contribute then and how much are they paying you for your contribution.

Are you generating enough for all your needs and then selling the excess back? I doubt it. For most of us we have little choice, we can't afford solar.

It's not individual actions that count either, it's global action that's needed or nothing of what an individual can do will matter.

You are literally a fart in a thunderstorm.

As Patrick Moore explained, all fossil fuel came from co2 initially, so there can't be an imbalance or an excess of c02

As everyone knows you can't create new matter all elements exist in fixed quantities it is just the various compounds that that can differ.

Some experts think we need more c02 for plant and crop growth. Co2 in the atmosphere isn't a straight linear action either. for every 1 degree of warming it requires co2 levels to double, so, from say 400 to 800, temps could rise 1 degree, then it would have to go from 800 to 1600 for another degree and then from 1600 to 3200 another degree. So, where is this climate emergency we are told about?

Bit off topic again I see.

This post is about UK economy.

Today's report from the United Nations says the UK is now the 5th country in the World for exports in 2022 up from 6th in 2021.

The Worlds largest exporters Germany, USA, China and France.

So mid table in the G7 not rock bottom as some people claimed AND manufacturing on the rise, it's not quite the doom mongers wet dream after all.

PS, Contro, constantly going off topic used to draw a punishment in the old days, it was kind of a rule, don't hijack threads. people would get a small ban for persistent offenders.

Kilkenny would be screwed...and Resloven.
