I don’t care about the flag. I’m more concerned about the content of his speech, saying he would welcome hormone injected Australian beef. This from the man who said we would not diverge from EU food standards. He represents a rural(ish) constituency. The farmers there must be delighted.

In 1945 and the years preceding it people living, fighting and dying under that flag were literally the last bastion of defence in the west against the very real fascism you are attesting to be opposed to.

Killy unfortunately cannot differentiate between fascism, left wing dictators, terrorist and democracy. Fortunately the UK voters are far more intelligent than him and have open minds.

I just put it down to ignorance to be honest. There are many on here who have a shockingly inept interpretation of history and politics. Sunak has one of the biggest majorities in history. His government could push through pretty much anything if he wanted to. But he doesn’t. He’s achieved absolutely nothing. He’s done nothing. He is a nothing Prime minister leading a nothing government. How people can keep a straight face and seriously link him or any government we’ve had to fascism is beyond me.

Maybe its the attacks on the judges ? Or the anti-union legislation ? Maybe the anti-protest legislation ? The lying to the Queen ? The huge covid corruption ? The hatred for Europe ? The anti-immigrant policies ? (Failed x 3) The cronyism of the House of Lords nominations ? The attacks on experts and universities ? The hatred of Human Rights legislation ? The boastful nationalism (world beating) and misplaced exceptionalism ? The total lack of respect for International Agreements ? But then again …. you might be right ……?

I’m my opinion, allowing hormone injected beef in to this country would be mental. There are huge concerns about it and the product is banned in the EU. If we allow it in here, it has the potential to seriously damage our food manufacturers who make and export goods to the EU as they simply won’t entertain allowing any treated beef products in. It’ll be interesting to see what brexit supporters start saying about this sort of thing. We keep being told that leave voters knew exactly what they voted for. This kind of thing wasn’t it. I hope they call it out.

I know why I voted leave but to be honest, imports of animal meat were not in my thoughts. Unfortunately, in leaving an undemocratic, corrupt and controlling EU we have since fallen prey to exactly the same politics from the tories. One of my reasons for leaving though, the more politicians we have the bigger the messes seemed to get, I figured why keep allowing more politicans into the mix, maybe we'd be better off with fewer dickwads making the rules. As it turns out it doesn't seem to matter how many politicians there are, the only real difference is in how expensive they are, otherwise be it 60 or 2000, they can still make a right pigs ear of it. Largely because they are all so corrupt, self serving and greedy.

Good points, mate. Unfortunately in 2016 we had to let the foxes in the henhouse to ‘get it done’. Look where we’ve ended up. I was interested in food hygiene standard as I have a pretty big interest in farming. Farmers are understandably unhappy. As a Penclawdd boy I’m pretty interested in the fishing too. The cockle industry has been hit by Brexit too.

Yet farmers were largely for leaving. What it came down to is the government made a right mess of it, Bojo the clown screwed everything up, helped by the intransigent atttiude of the EU negotiators. A deal should have been struck in everyone's interests but what we got was a politically motivated nonsense. I'm not really confident but still very hopeful that if Starmer gets a majority next GE, he can go back to the EU and get a fairer deal, fairer for both party's, beneficial to both sides.

I think you're right about the EU needing to up its game but I think the past 7 years have shown we are in no position to lecture anyone else about democracy. Look at the Muppets Johnson put in the Lords. Electoral reform has to be on the cards

Some good points. You mention the intransigent attitude of the EU negotiators, I firmly believe ours were just as bad. Look at the way Frost et Al handled the discussions regarding Northern Ireland - a couple of months later Rishi Sunak comes in to power and it’s sorted.

I’m quite indifferent on the hormone beef/chlorinated chicken issue. Millions eat it safely every day, I think if it’s labelled so customers can make an informed choice then I see no real problem.

I personally don’t want it anywhere near our country. How do you ensure it’s properly labelled so consumers can make an informed choice, we’re not only talking about slabs of meat in the butchers or Tesco chilled aisle, the meat it could be in pies, pasties, gelatine products, restaurant food, prepared meals etc etc. a few years ago we had a massive scandal where horse meat was being palmed off as beef despite labelling etc. If it arrives on our shores, it’s going to decimate many of our food exporting businesses. I have been saying this for ages, we need major change in our politics. Right now the whole system is set up to serve the few at the expense of the many, it has to change. Major, yes I agree, the Uk negotiator was just as bad. Whether that was because of what he knew he was facing or because he would always have been so, I know not.

You have to commit a crime to be arrested. Mind you what Drakeford and labour have done to Wales is criminal. The same with Sturgeon, yousaf and the SNP in Scotland.
