Skybet have him at 5/2 second favourite from nowhere.

Just under 38% win rate at Wigan.

I'm not inspired. We were linked with him in the summer and could be a cheap option, so fits the club remit on two fronts, cheap and he is known to them.

Worse still, we could stick with Sheehan! That’s no disrespect to him but clearly we need someone far better to get us out of this predicament we find ourselves in.

Indeed but I don’t think he would get the gig, unless we beat Boro ,which might skew things up.

Attractive football on its own isn’t enough. We need at least some improvement in results.

I’d be surprised if they appointed an average league one manager, having just sacked one. Could so easily be a disaster. They’ve made a lot of mistakes, but I doubt they’ll take a gamble like this, near the relegation zone after half a season.

He’d presumably want to bring his back room staff, whereas I doubt Davies would have that option. Would it even be that much cheaper?

Maloney would be a good, shrewd appointment. Wigan are a club in financial turmoil even struggling and failing to pay player wages last year. His preferred playing style would be a good match and fit and he’s capable of doing well at Swansea given the right support. I suppose though it shows where we are as a club now. The next five months need to see us consolidate our position in mid table by playing attractive attacking football which is possession based. It’s easier said that done when you don’t spend on players …

Only an idiot would eat a turkey curry on Christmas day

" It’s easier said that done when you don’t spend on players"

How many did we bring in during the summer, was it 13 including the loans.

“ Spend “ is the key word. It was quantity over quality.

Tymon and Yates cost a fortune, and Key may end up the same. Lowe's wages are expensive. We spent but not on much quality.

If I was Maloney's agent I'd have been putting a tenner on him with all the bookies. Easy publicity.

I also heard that Bolasie is on a wage of over £20K a week. To say we haven't spent is not true, it's just that we have not spent well.
