It’s probably quite easy to progress from ‘I won’t go tonight, it’s cold and raining and I can watch it anyway’ to ‘I’ll just watch all the games at home and slag the crowd off’.

I attended the match last night. Credit to the sizeable crowd from Morecambe who made the long trip down on a cold winters evening a few days into the new year. Done your club proud. Wish you every success for the rest of the season. [Post edited 7 Jan 2024 8:53]

Oh no they didn't, oh yes they did.....which sums football chanting it is a pantomime. My favourite chant was Sunderland fans after Kanu missed a sitter for Arsenal " we'd rather have a speedboat than Kanu".

Nothing to do with going or not. Not slagging off crowd either It’s also not personal ,just an observation. What is pitiful is sone taking it personally or using it to fit their narrative This was the first game of a new coach Our crowd should have been larger and more focal. Now,crowd is a collective term,so let’s end this crap now Our fans have lost enthusiasm ,proven by thousands walking away . The thrill has gone Luke can bring this back so let’s hope he does

5.30 is a terrible time to attend a football match, particularly if the opposition are not worth going to watch. I know many who couldn't be bothered for these reasons. The total gate revenue was probably under £50k, it doesn't cover the cost of opening the stadium not counting we only get a percentage of it. The FA cup is only interesting for the majority if you are playing a team from a higher league. On a separate issue, not closing the road after the game was downright dangerous.

Decent reply . Thanks That said, we had a new coach in situ and I’d have thought it a game when fans could relax more and watch our lads win a game . Opposition irrelevant really ,as it’s all about us ,or should be. don’t agree with that being bad time either . Time to get to game them home to have dinner and watch Casualty .

| Our home crowd on 18:31 - Jan 6 by onehunglow | Oh they can. Following your logic,if you’re not ignoring me that is,you should be at the game and bawling out encouragement. Those at the ground are not. They are no inspiration. It is flat, They are flat. We have a new coach That should have seen a little passion back It hasn’t We have been emasculated and fans show more passion slagging each other off on forums . It was a cheap game to go to,the wreathed is dry. Liverpool or Manure aren’t playing, no International rugby with Wales. Zero excuses There are the tough questions we should be asking ourselves It’s our cup final too Keith. We can’t afford to lose this surely. Ergo,it’s an important game |
Sorry OHL but you're dead wrong. This is nowhere near a cup final for us. Morecambe fetched a good number and made good noise but I have been away in the last few seasons and our away following has been at least as noisy as the home fans, WBA to start with when we won there last season. The home fans are flat because it's been a flat season and while we have a new manager we have yet to see anything from him because it's his first few days. Fans need inspiration too. If we'd had a big team at home it would have been different but it was Morecambe, a game we were expected to win even with our reserves. It was a big game for them but even so I bet they were disappointed to get us and not somone "bigger" | | | | Login to get fewer ads

No, it’s not about going. Plenty of people living much closer than you do didn’t bother going last night. It’s about fans that don’t go criticising those that do. Of course you were slagging off the crowd. Your opening post is literally - ‘Our home crowd - out sung by Morecombe FC. Pitiful.’

There was very little to get the home crowd going to be fair. Cold night, late kick off, 1/3 full stadium, poor opposition, slow game. https://photos.app.goo.gl/qwTK [Post edited 7 Jan 2024 10:45]

Crowd has walked away as you would expect given the drop in division, drop in performances and the ready availability of streams, got talking to a fan at the game who had stopped being a season ticket holder after a good number of years and yet there he was at the game with his family supporting the Swansea, looked like he was with his grandchildren maybe he wanted to spend time with family when he stopped and now they are old enough he could take them. I stopped playing for a year as a 16 year old in the Toshack era and really enjoyed the promotion year to the old first division, the following year I would have loved to follow the Swans as a spectator but much rather play football, only stopped after the birth of my second child because being with family took precedent over playing on a Saturday. As they grew older the rest of the family then joined me as supporters in the new stadium they have other needs now so I am happy to go by myself, with my brother or with friends do I miss the good old days of success yes but quite happy being unhappy watching a sport I love, if the Grandson playing interfers with watching the Swans so be it time will tell. Surprising what gets in the way of going to watch the Swansea work, family, distance or dispair. Think how many of the younger supporters from the South Stands have now grown up with obligations that stop them going now.
| Our home crowd on 10:45 - Jan 7 with 1175 views | KeithHaynes | Spoke to two lads who were there, where the 284 Morecambe fans were located there was nobody around them, hence the acoustics being echoey. The east were not as bad as being made out. Mind you they are both very positive people. | |

Have nothing but praise for fans who attend games especially the away games, what with all the extra costs and time needed. For myself I enjoy speaking with opposition supporters home or away when it is done in a reasonable manner and with a measure of control Sometimes with work colleagues I could even take the good natured banter about other teams. In our close locality.

Yes Luke can bring the fans back come but it won't happen overnight. Watching the Swans is a habit. When the habit is broken its often difficult to re-do. The way forward is to continue with the kids for a quid and other similar incentives for the less attractive matches. Attract the youngsters and it will often result in them being fans for life. An unnecessary negative minority fan base on social media doesn't help the issue either. [Post edited 7 Jan 2024 14:10]
