The Championship or League One. 0 Swans crush Blackburn : Was it just a coincidence ? 22nd Feb 2025 20:53It was Swansea City’s day today, the shackles were off with the team slightly tweaked, and at last we saw what summer signing Vipotnik is all about. His changing of position with Liam Cullen aided a more fluent and thoughtful Swansea attack and couple that with Myles Peart-Harris at last stepping up all the ingredients were there for a win. And win the Swans did. 0

| Swansea City v Blackburn Rovers : Match day thread ** Updated on 11:49 - Feb 23 by builthjack | After a shaky start, and a great save from the Vig, we got stuck in, not allowing Blackburn time on the ball, and winning a lot of 50/50s, and second balls. I haven’t seen that since the QPR game. Yesterday we were better again. Every player put a shift in. We had a 12th man in the fans, they were fantastic. Even the drummer turned up, getting them going. Well done Sheehan. I wasn’t at all sure that he could change things but he proved me wrong. Happy. |
Can expect a far harder game on the 4th away at Preston, not a happy hunting ground. Well, unless you were there in 81. Then Boro at home, very beatable but intensity needs to continue, I liked the switching of Vipotnik and Cullen. Tymon was tremendous.

You did. What’s the lottery numbers for this week?

Or 2008, ferre bodde, I was there 😉 We will never have a better chance of doing them, they are playing burnley in the cup and we have over a week off, plus I can't go because I'm working, the eldest is though, you watch us beat them now 🙄

Yes, it was a good team performance where everyone contributed from the first whistle to the last. However, I’m keeping my feet firmly in the ground. We played a style yesterday that wasn’t normal for us which also meant the opposition were taken by surprise. The more games we play the more other teams will know how to set up. It’s at that point we’ll see a) how good the players are and b) whether Sheehan can tweak things to keep the opposition guessing - something they didn’t have to waste time on when Martin and Williams were at the helm. Hopefully, we’ll get the required points well before the danger zone and can relax and start planning on additions for next season. Whether that will be under Sheehan or not I’ll wait and see.

Hopefully we will push on. But one swallow and all that.

I actually have faith that Sheehan won't be scared to tweak things to keep the oppo guessing. That was a big part of the problem under Williams and back then under Martin, we did the same things week after week, we were slow, we were predictable and that is an awful combination unless you are happy to be bored and to not win most weeks. I guess now we will also find out if our squad is all that weak, or is it at least mid table good?

Martin and Williams usually didn't tweak the system to fit the players they had both rotated players around the pitch to try and get them to fit the system, it did work every s o often but mostly players found themselves trying to do things totally alien to how they have been use to playing in their proper positions, all for players adapting to situations but Martin's substitutions caused chaos to a new level. I think the jury is out on Abdulai. He's gone quiet since his excellent start at Orient, subbed again yesterday.

Absolutely correct. Blackburn probably trained and set up expecting us to passively and dangerously play the ball around the back like we have all season. By the time they realised their error we were 2:0 up. This is the insanity behind these “philosophies” that insist on only playing one way. It’s far too predictable.

Exactly what I said. No opposing manager has had to do any prep on us before a game during the Martin or Williams era.

Let's not forget in a hurry the sheer vindictive stupidity of Williams and how far we have regressed so quickly Ok, we've sourced poorly but we are Breyer than defeats by Pompey and humiliation by dire Stoke As I've said, a new coach would quickly asters this madness Sheehan has simply been pragmatic and sensible He is surely free of self love too
