No disgrace as the Swans bow out 29th Oct 2025 22:27
As we have seen recently a firing on all cylinders start ended in a rearguard action tonight at the swansea.com. On this occasion head coach, Alan Sheehan can be forgiven to an extent, but once the Swans switched to a more defensive posture this game was only going to end with Manchester City winning the game. 1

Not really reconciling some of the player ratings with the "no disgrace" headline. I think quite a few players did better than the scores they got.

Not sure if Fisher could have done an awful lot more with the goal either, but I've not seen it back yet. Hit that hard and that high into the net it would have taken something special to keep it out.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

We did ourselves quite proud but but sideshow how far we have regressed since relegation
Back then we stood toe to toe with these clubs and beat them
We shored up well enough until the over broke
Shame Weddells shot was just squeezed away
There is spirit in those players

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

There is but it was a cup game with nothing to lose in reality. Sheehan needs to instil that confidence and enthusiasm into the frankly more important bread and butter games starting Saturday. IF he can do that, we’d be in for an exciting season. Players also need to play their part.

He’s simply been kep back
Makes one wonder about B Wales
He must be shyte Idah is judged as worthy of a start in games
We can do so much better

This conserving what we have idea in second halves of games isn’t for me, ok Man City is different but not happy at all with this strategy.

We have to be on the front foot Saturday and not set up like we did at Southampton we have enough talented players to cause Charlton problems

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game
Poll: Happy to see Martin go

Keith
There’s no need for it
Play the ball quickly and forward and we can kill teams on our league
We should be in awe of nobody on this league
The three midfielders I’ve highlighted should and would be a deadly unit
Do you see where I’m coming from now Guv

It’s three CHs at back
Five midfield
Two up front
VIP and assistant up front
Again last night VIP benched when we should have gone for it
He must truly be puddled off , at heart
Taking best players off fifteen mins from time doesn’t conserve their energy much
The energy of the team does drop however as do heads
No need for this

Hit the nail on the head there
We’ve been so slow in second halves of games and our baffling substitutions give the opposition incentive to run at us and it’s costing us
Centre half’s stay on for 90 so show some ambition and leave Zan on for a full game ,he’ll give tiring defenders nightmares
Pick our strongest starting 11 ,(including Widell) and keep the pressure up the full game
Get us back playing like the end of last season and we’ll be fine
Oh and leave Cullen out of the squad

His selections are obvious even down to his subs. I’m not seeing a lot in Benson, is he smaller than Leon ! Our midfield is stronger with Widell involved, and we need that because it is lightweight. Franco had a much better game last night but he needs now to show up on Saturday. His work rate was excellent though.

That goal though was so good.

If we can get Inoussa on form we can create and destroy sides but this conservative side of Sheehan is so frustrating. I seem to be in the minority when it comes to Eom, his non inclusion I hope is just for rest.

I tend to agree, but a 7 is good, Fisher ? He is what he is, I agree with Liam on the goal though.

Nobody really dominated for the Swans, getting an 8 off this lad as we have seen for Tymon, VIP and Larry means a top display. Not sure anyone fitted that category last night. Although personally Galbraith for me was an 8.

We saw Fisher come off his line 3 times to dive at the attacker's feet to snuff out chances. We won't see it again this season.
Man City's second goal reminded me of Vipi last Saturday. A tight angle, but he hits it so hard, the keeper has no chance. Almost from the same blade of grass as well.

I thought Fisher did well last night ,as he has in all the cup matches,Vig makes mistakes too ,as do most keepers but people seem to cut him slack

Given the quality of the opposition every Swans player who started that game deserved a 7 minimum. Fisher had a very good game. He had to be on his toes for the whole duration given that territorially they were bombarding us. The ball was in our half for 80% of the game. They had over 20 goal attempts. To our one/two possibly.

Players like Key also did very well. The gulf in class between the teams was huge but from that game only positives can be taken even in defeat. It’s no time to be trying to find fault for the sake of it as it’s easy to be wise with hindsight. That’s a cheap shot.

Man City BTW. How they move the ball so quickly and accurately with athletes through the team. Their movement and passing is at the highest level. Even at our best 10 years ago we were nowhere near that. Nowhere near.

Thought I would add my two pence into the chat. Hope you are enjoying the match reports and the odd feature. I’m still signed up to doing them purely down to the help Keith has given me to complete my uni work in fact my whole course. Then of course the brain tumour awareness.

Great to see talk on the ratings, we see it as we see it.

Thanks for taking the time to support this website and reading what we report.

Good post
Man City do move players and the the ball at pace and it was very impressive to watch, they are a very good team, the Swans certainly deserve credit and definitely didn’t disgrace themselves ,the only thing about Man City that disappoints me is the cynical ‘tactical fouling’and play acting from great players, they don’t need to do it,it’s blatant cheating and for me that takes away any respect I have for them and all teams that do it, unfortunately it’s increasing not only with the big teams but also with the smaller ones and in all leagues ,Watford down here was cringing,it’s been allowed to creep into the game ,doesn’t get penalised and does take the shine off the Beautiful game
