| Charlton Athletic v Swansea City : Match day thread 11:00 - Oct 30 with 10580 views | ModeratorC | In depth on the big game : Jones, Sheehan Watson reunion ? The friendships & religion 31st Oct 2025 09:52The Swans will be on their way to London later today to prepare for their EFL Championship clash with Charlton Athletic at the Valley tomorrow (3pm) Interestingly it’s a meeting that has numerous links between the two head coaches of both sides, Alan Sheehan and Nathan Jones. We can add another character to the mix as well. 0 Swansea City : Big support at the Valley for the Swans today & Kyle Griffiths in memoriam 1st Nov 2025 08:00There seems to far more interest in this fixture for Swans fans than originally anticipated for the big game away at the Valley today (3pm) We are informed although not confirmed that there is pay on the day in an away end that holds 3,000. The Swans took off sale their allocation on Friday morning. There’s no confirmed sales but it is at least 1,500 tickets sold, it could be 2,000. Time will tell. 0 Swans really should have had all three points at Charlton 1st Nov 2025 20:04Well over two thousand away fans (2.414) were in attendance today to watch the Swans ease their way to an away point at Charlton Athletic. In truth the Swans should have taken all three points with their chances made throughout this game. It has to be said Charlton disappointed but they will surely be happy with the draw ? 1

Difference between the top and being good is how you finish, as kids we spent hours just shooting at a wall marked with a goals, from all angles, some cant even hit the bloody wall. COYS

| Charlton Athletic v Swansea City : Match day thread on 17:02 - Nov 1 by Dr_Winston | Yep. I'll take a point after a tough game in midweek too. The amount of simpletons who seem to think that we should have basically gone with the same team after running ourselves into the ground against Man City shouldn't really surprise me at this point, but somehow still does. Sheehan was always going to make changes. Charlton will be far unhappier with the result than we should be. |
Don't think Chalton deserved more than a point if that. Nice to see the goal scored with a direct ball through the middle we have started to get a number of goals by varying our play, running at defenders around the edge of the box pushing them back finding the feet of players in the box. Must admit it was a poor game off head tennis in the first half, once our defensive headers actually got played in to players or spaces we could exploit and we started playing the ball on the ground we looked by far the better team. Frustration seems to be the major emotion right now. We're tantalisingly close to being a damn good side. We've got (most) of the players we need to be so, but we're not quite there for mostly avoidable reasons. When we play well we're capable of being very good, we just don't play well often enough.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Seems impossible to miss from four yards out with gaping net in front of you

Someone should emphasise to Sheehan that there are three points for a win and you won't finish in the top half of the table by only getting draws.

It was actually refreshing to see him visibly annoyed we had not taken the 3 points in his post-match interview. I was fully expecting him to say he was happy with the point, tough place to come etc.

Opinions eh? Lucky that most jacks are in a positive mood, most, like myself and the eldest would have snapped your hand off at a point away to a side who have only lost 1 at home in umpteen games. As was mentioned last night, normally we struggle to get back into the game after going 1 down but we totally controlled the second half, we should have ultimately won it and that shows how well we played. What really backs up my thoughts about how we played is several charlton fans say that we are the best side they have played and they were lucky to get a point.

Yes, coming from behind and then dominating is a good way to draw. We should be able to take that into Wednesday and let’s see what we can do. He needs to select the best first XI though and I think we all know what that is just about. It will be interesting to see at 6-30 on Wednesday.

In a way, I was happier with that than the Norwich game. Obviously points are the main thing, but we’ll win more games over the season playing like we did yesterday than we did last week.

I emphasised this a few weeks ago . The difference between drawing and winning is massive not just the fact that 2 points more moves you up the table but the psychological lift it gives you. Players and fans get the " feel good factor " .

Why dont you try and sample a proper live match? You might see it differently but I doubt it. I suspect you will bore or p!ss people off with your negativity. I refer you back to my post about yesterday's crowd, they were very positive because whilst we didnt win, we played very well in the second and they knew that we are on an upward curve.

Spot on. Man City showed that. Not trying to name drop, but Gary Monk once told me, the higher you go in the divisions, the difference really is the strikers. We competed well yesterday, but our finishing was woeful and until we sort that out we will be mediocre at best
