| Swansea City v Oxford United : Match day thread on 17:20 - Dec 3 by sw02sea | I feel I have to say this, after watching utter $hit from them for weeks and weeks. If the players don’t show proper commitment for the shirt on Saturday, especially with a new manager and hopefully his assistants, then it’s getting close to loosing the faith. I’m sick to death of watching Ronald McDonald not beating a man, and kicking his “cross” straight at whoever’s in front of him. Key giving the ball away, not covering back, and when he does, he’s the wrong side of his man, leaving a huge space where he should have been, EOM getting pushed off the ball The general schoolboy defending by our defence, midfield not controlling midfield, and last but not least no (or hardly) any shots at goal. IE. WBA 26 us 3. FFS give us a win !! |
You can add going down clutching their face when the wind changes direction and rightly not getting a free kick.

This all day long, particularly Ronald. It’s bordering on embarrassing the way he goes down looking for free kicks with little or no contact. I know a lot of players do it, but it’s not as if we’re particularly dangerous from attacking set pieces! I’ll support the players of my team as much as humanly possible, but I’m with you. When you see his utter crap game in, game out, then collecting his however many thousands of pounds a week, then you do struggle to keep the faith. Nothing I’d love more than for him & the rest of the team to prove me wrong, but I can’t see it happening

It’s sickening see an “ athlete” behave like this isn’t It’s a trait brought in over the years from foreign players Portuguese are amongst the worst

Totally agree on Ronald. Problem is, a huge number of fans demand a free kick in unison when he does this. It’s blindingly obvious that there’s been no real contact.

Not sure their fans of him exactly just wanting us a free kick I’d rather him actually be a man and stand up It’s cheating that he does , to himself and fans alike

It’s a shame Lissah is not a right back to replace Key as he’s doing a fine job at Falkirk, did very well against Rangers nullifying attacking threats. Falkirk manager is anxious we might recall our 2 loanees because of the current omnishambles.

In fairness the ones in Scotland are getting more game time than the ones in the EFL. Edit Lissah starts tonight Wilson is on the bench. [Post edited 3 Dec 20:05]

This all day , he started to show glimpses of having the ability to beat a man and putting in a decent cross (those were the days kids.) Feigning an foul really gets on my wick ,do what you're paid handsomely to do and if not step aside and let my 15 year old grandson have a go , at least he'd try.

Interesting that tonight he was played at RCB by McGlynn and performed well even better than he has at LB in his last 8 games.... He's been named Player of the Month for November :--- "The defender picks up his first club award since joining on loan in the Summer. Naturally a central defender, Filip has filled in at left back due to injuries and has put in a run of impressive performances. The Bairns have enjoyed a very successful November that has seen us go unbeaten in the William Hill Premiership, with two dominant wins against Kilmarnock and Dundee United, and two draws against Livingston and Rangers. Falkirk sit sixth in the table, exceeding all expectations, and Filip’s performances have been an crucial part of the team’s run of form. Well done, Filip!" I don't know if he's ready for the Championship FT but seems to be holding his own in the SPL - Seems he would be a useful utility player in our woeful defence though. The old adage if they're good enough they're old enough springs to mind. Some comments from Falkirk fans after last night's game against Motherwell :--- "Lissah plays with slippers on. What a f**king player. Strolled it." "I'll take it...how Lissah is deemed surplus in a struggling Swansea side is unbelievable...that little juke through the middle a thing of beauty... stunned if this guy doesn't go on to have a great career " "I had zero expectations for Filip Lissah when he signed. None. I thought he was here to make up the squad, bit of cover on the right. How wrong I was. This lad is something special. I hope we get to keep him for the season before he heads on to bigger things. What a talent." "The ball comes near Lissah and 9 times out of 10, one of the following occurs : - controls it first time - wins a header which goes to a Falkirk player - takes off the pressure with a crisp, accurate pass to (the excellent) Bain - accepts a pass from a Falkirk player and plays an accurate forward pass - wins a 50-50 tackle He’s only played a handful of games at this level - the last two against current top 5 teams in Scotland. Every time he’s looked the best defender on the park. An exceptional talent." [Post edited 4 Dec 14:01]

I wonder just who makes the decisions on who we loan out. Is it the coaching staff, Gorringe, the recruitment team or a combination of the three. Remember Montague was sacked for having a different opinion, the truth there would be interesting.

I have no idea WR but I'm sure one of the priorities for Matos given his background will be monitoring our younger crop of players and giving them opportunities where possible. I guess as of now only O'Leary is left with detailed first hand knowledge of those players out on loan to advise VM and the new backroom staff. The revolving door at the club has not helped us in this one bit.

If good enough , they’re old enough I read Widdell not really ready Sam Parker no better than Key My God, why hast though forsaken us Matos has to do something different primarily getting players to do the basics Many can’t or haven’t Hes got our best wishes but nobody is or should be confident of staying up We can however do this

Matos has a reputation for developing younger players, he's got 4 weeks before the window opens and 8 weeks before it closes to assess what we have here and out on loan. Getting Wales in and sending Wilson out on loan seemed a strange one to me.

Another problem he's got is many are out of contract in June, including Lissah and Wilson and they won't fancy dropping down a level at a crucial juncture in their career if we go down. Needs to assess who are the best long-term prospects and tie them down to contracts.

That's good news. Someone should probably update the official site though ! The info on all squads there is patchy or non-existant at best. Can't think of a club at this level that doesn't have "pen pics" of many of their first and senior squads.

Ah you'll have to excuse me I'm still fairly new-ish on here I mainly just stick to the forums and read the articles. I've now only just looked under squad and can see there's a ton of stuff on there and all sorts of reports going back a few years... Lots to catch up on!
