Inoussa a great asset! Seriously? There is no way if he is properly scouted we will get more than £1 mill for him and then he will need a manager who is willing to spend half of his managerial life kicking him up the backside. What did we pay for Widdell - £1mill? I like him but he's not going to fetch fortunes without one good season under his belt.

I've watched him all season and cannot think of a moment when he has produced an end product. He beats players then 50% of the time the defenders catch up with him. When they don't he makes it to the penalty area, then passes it backwards or falls over himself. Plenty of ability there, but if we paid £5/6 million for him we have an asset that will lose us money. As an athlete he looks the business, but he needs an almighty kick up the ass.

He laid on the ball for Vipotnik to score against Sheffield Wednesday but I can't think of any others.

Even with 9 out of the 11 he finished with last season he steufgled to get us looking anything like we did as ww finished last season . Players like Key,Franco,Cabango have gone backwards and they were not summer signings . Yes given our apparent better window for many years therw was an expextation amongst the fanbase, some more cautious than others. Since the arrival of Matos we look a different side it is unfair to judge the quality of the summer signings bases om our current league positiin we are where we are due to the coaching....signs were there preaeason but many fans dusxounted the poor performances against lower league opposition. Yes the club is to blame ....for appointinf Sheehan to the full time role. Of the signings,Galbraith has proven to be a "gem" now he is being given opportunity Widell shows some promising signs as as Stamenic. Idah I believe was a signing pushed more by O Dea rather than the "scouting" team. We had "successful" windows in the past where not all of the inciming players were hits....including during Luadrups time. Lets wait until the end of the season before writing these players off...lets see how they progress under Matos... |
Yes, saying that the club is to blame for hiring Sheehan, one has to admit that it's with 20/20 hindsight! Please remember that most of us here on this chat board stated that Sheehan deserved to get the job permanently back in May after the season ended. I was one of those voices even though we heard through the grapevine that the owners & board were divided in giving him the job permanently. I don't know what went on behind the scenes, whether it was O'Dea or if he/they couldn't figure out who their best 11 players were. All I know is that Sheehan was replaced because he couldn't win with the players he had at his disposal. I think there's a lot of blame to spread around, including management, recruiting, marketing (hyping up what seemed to be a talented group of recruits), & even we the fans. But ultimately it comes down to the players and the coaches not getting the job done.

Yes, Sheehan was the wrong appointment, but you can’t blame the club for making it. He deserved it based on what he did last season. It certainly looked a good choice at the time.
