Makes sense he was always full energy, good at pressing and getting tackles in think he will fit in a lot better under our current approach

Poll: We all dream of a managerial team of Alan Tates?

I really can't see another loan being the answer for a 26 year old player unless we fail to sell. He joined Wigan on deadline day and according to their website they were trying to get him all summer. Did we only loan him out because we couldn't agree a permanent deal anywhere. It's all speculation at the moment, but in my opinion if he is not in the squad tomorrow we are trying to sell.

Wasn't Yalcouye recalled to come to us. Can he be recalled again to go on loan elsewhere, how many clubs can you go to in one season or is that rule for the same league?

Football is a funny ol game.
Ollie fits the style that Vitor is implementing.
This may just kick start his career.
I really hope so.
He's a great lad and one of us.

Could there be a case of players being loaned out to a lower division are never going to be able to attain the standards required by the team in the higher division because they are playing amongst players of a lesser standard? I am belittling the standard of teams in division below us or is it a common mistake made similar to ours against Wycombe in the cup last season?
What about players who are late developers because they thought they were good enough already and didn't work hard enough to carry on progressing further?

Sometimes its more about players going on loan to "grow up and mature" with younger players. Obviously its to get game time but also take them out of their comfort zone. Look at players who we have come here on loan and developed, while others who thought they were the dogs bollux have crashed and burned. The same with players we loan out.

Not sure if his mrs has had anything to do with this. You can only eat so many pie sandwiches.

I did say young players away to mature, not this case.. In my opinion the recall is all about Ollie not being in the squad for the last month and not in the shop window.

When Cooper was breaking through we had Piroe, Paterson and Ntcham, all about getting the right players on the pitch to make the most of their skills, wasn't it the end of last season Cooper was brought on late to see games out and didn't he have a small stint in the Wales team? He had gained a certain amount of championship experience so reached a level could he step up to a higher I think most of us would think not.
I posted the Jason Scotland goal commenting on the players assisting it but not mentioning them by name they included Tate who took the ball down nicely on his chest sending the approaching player the wrong way while playing left back, he then passed it to Gower who did well to picked out Scotland's feet. Both Tate and Gower had parts to play at times in the team, has Ollie Cooper had his or had he found his level much like Tate and Gower had to make way for others?

Eom and Vipotnik would be the most comparable players to Paterson and Piroe.

Ntcham should have been in the Cooper position agreed, but he was mainly played out wide due to a lack competition on the wing. A problem we don’t have now.

Cullen, who would be picked ahead of Cooper nine times out of ten, was a striker at the time, but would now be in direct competition with Cooper. He himself, is rightly behind Widdell.

That’s without mentioning Yalcouye

Our squad is better and deeper now than it has been for a long time. A natural consequence of that, is players who were in and around the team, but never really nailed down a place then, are further down the pecking order now.

Many do, but Ollie is 26 we have often brought in players for every reason other than playing for the club. But his age tells me differently. Of course a permanent move would be better for him now. Someone on X is saying he can’t go on loan now elsewhere, which I find baffling.

He played for us against Crawley, he has played for Wigan, can you play for three different teams in one season. TBH I forgot about Crawley so is he stuck here?

I read somewhere the Wigan manager said both Cooper and and Paul Mullin would be returning to their parent clubs ,maybe they need to save money ??

As his parent club it’s always been a case of it being one club no matter when you play for them in a season (i thought ) We’ve signed players in January who have been at their parent club then on loan and then at the Swans.

Didn’t we do that with Conor Gallagher ?

If there is a rule change it’s news to me but then a lot of things are 😂

I'm not sure mate but one would hope the club know the rules and regulations.

Well …

Mid-Season Move: A player loaned to Club B in August, and then recalled to their parent club (Club A) in January, can then be loaned to a third club (Club C) in the same season, as long as they haven't played for Club A or Club B in official matches after the new loan.

Cup Competitions: Specific rules apply; for example, in the FA Cup, a player might play for a lower-league team and then for a different team in the main competition proper, provided permission is granted.

And can he be sold.

Edit.
Plus technically he moved in September not August.

Appreciate that it would be good to have some of our younger players a change and chance in lower division but in the case of Ollie was it that Sheehan didn't think he would get game time with us, it became very infrequent under him even though Cooper had got in the Wales team. You would think that Cooper will be loan out again if he is not going to get game time given he is contracted to us until the summer of 2027 I believe.or is it an option to extend. Hoping that Cooper flourishes else where to either comeback to claim a place or increase his value to us or will Matos surprise us?

A number of older players sent out to establish themselves it would seem a bit too late having some of the bad habit forced upon them by past coaches requirements? Smacked of offloading wages to get the loans in but as we have seen a number of young loanees to us haven't been able to get as much game time as their parent club would like because we needed the experience of the players already in place or signed.
Yalcouye has some talent but who really wants to see our player dribbling across our crowded penalty box, he has been caught in possession on a number of occasions deep in our half so it is very hard trust him to play the way the manager would want him to, fantastic and unexpected play but Gaurdiola would have a dicky fit see him do it in his team. I was sure relieved he made it out of our penalty area with the ball still at his feet. Further up the pitch please.

Must admit I couldn’t be bothered reading most of this thread, because Shirley, he’s going to be loaned out to someone else ?

He’s coming back as we have a few injury problems. A capable player but he needs to be more consistent.
