Wales eye a World Cup spot in the USA : All the info on the big game 22nd Mar 2026 12:46Wales take on Bosnia & Herzegovina at home on Thursday night (7:45pm) in a straight forward knock out which will determine a final tie against Italy or Northern Ireland. Again this is a home tie for Wales (if they win) on Tuesday March 31st again (7:45pm) 0 Wales squad assembles at the Vale for huge World Cup qualifier but at what cost ? 23rd Mar 2026 13:01The Swans have two players in the Wales squad this time around chosen by head coach Craig Bellamy, but also contribute across the board from their academy players who have since moved on to other clubs. Despite certain media trying to mention Cardiff City’s call ups at every turn this is an ‘all for one’ cause this Thursday evening. 0 What can Cardiff City offer Wales on Thursday night ? 25th Mar 2026 13:59There has always been a battle between the two main clubs in Wales, Swansea City and Cardiff City. Coming together on anything rarely happens, most certainly internationally and definitely between the fans. However, there is little choice come Thursday night at 7:45pm. It’s absolutely massive. 1 Wales : Huge game as Ben Davies gets a golden cap 26th Mar 2026 08:20Tonight we will see how Wales manage a high pressure game in their World Cup semi final qualifier against Bosnia & Herzegovina. It’s a home tie and must be settled on the night and if required extra time then penalties will decide who goes through. 0

We should have scored more when dictating the game, we hit the woodwork a couple of times. We let them back into the game when we made the substitutions, whether that was bad decisions or lack of quality options is open to discussion. We have never beaten them and lost on penalties not during the game so strength and physicality had nothing to do with it. They scored their penalties and won we missed ours and lost. The final is too close to call Italy home are much stronger than away and Bosnia were very unlucky not to go through in the ground stage, I think Bosnia will shade it. |
If as some do consider Cullen not good enough for us then why think he's good enough for the international stage, myself agree wotht most who say the subs weakened us but why expect anything dofferent , we have a very small pot of players to chose from with only the spine of the team palying at the UIks highest level so any of those missing will obviously weaken the side , hwyl will only get you so far and that 12th man was certainly missing last night.

It was missing I got the feeling the crowd were anxious from kick off which got into the players when they equalised , the crowd died whilst the Bosnians lifted their team They played for penalties as they had confidence in taking them whereas ours were not even after an outstanding Save by our keeper Bellamy seemed to settle at 1-0 and brought off James and Brooks . Criminal Cullen exposed cruelly The better team always wins as they score more goals tries points etc whilst conceding less They create and convert chances Hitting the bar / post is missing the target

| World Cup Play Off Thread : Wales v Bosnia & Herzegovina on 12:17 - Mar 27 by swancity | You seem to have over looked the fact that Wales were the better team. And overall did well. We hit the bar twice and deserved to get through although they had good moments which you would expect. A shoot out is a lottery. We all know that. If you want to talk about “ bottle “ whatever that means exactly then look no further than all of the players who stepped up to take a penalty. You simply seem to try to be clever with the benefit of hindsight. That’s easy. When things go wrong to point fingers. You always do it but with little or no understanding of the subject matter. Always looking to find fault and to criticise. It’s quite sad really. At least find a subject that you know something about. |
It’s not really a lottery in the true sense though is it. It requires skill and a great deal of nerve and credit to those who step up to the fold. But not holding your nerve is commonly known as ‘bottling it’ and B&H held theirs, away from home under extreme pressure. Wales sadly did not.

Good god. That’s a crazy post even by your bizarre standards. One of their players managed to miss from the penalty spot as well. He must have lacked “ bottle “. 😂

Last night we saw a people some of whom would have lived through the siege of Sarajevo which saw 6000 civilians die, no electricity, car tyres burned for heat and Serbs wanting to annialate Bosnian Muslims to form a new Serb state . Young men disappeared overnight ,and people both Muslim and Serb previously living on relative harmony become fractured And we were led to believe they’d be frightened by the Welsh “ wall of red” Just xxxx my old boots We truly gave no idea of shit

A little bit of not coping with the pressure maybe but also a good save. Brennan Johnson didn’t hit the target from 12 yds, the pressure got to him. You’ve got to put pressure on the other side by keeping on scoring. The Germans were brilliant at this. So many teams felt they were beat in a penalty shoot out before they’d kicked the ball. Put Brennan Johnson in that situation with me in goal on a training pitch. He’d hit the target and score 100% of the time. No pressure see. OHL can handle his own arguments, he doesn’t need me but in this instance I agree with him.

We can all handle arguments I don’t see chumship from anyone , nor do I see popularity or forum cuddles from people I don’t know but I’m buggered if some are going to divert attention from The purpose of this site I’m simply not having it We can exchange views no matter how different Why do people reply to posters they see as stupid or thick , answer is because they are that themselves We’ve lost too many great posters both on this incarnation and t’ other , eg Davillon , now consigned to the dust bowl in the sky The guy sent me a Philosophy book after we’d argued over some topic He offered to meet me for dinner in Toronto seeing him drive up from Penn A real interlect He left the forum immediately Levein and co took over on principle He was prescient on what followed Rest easy ya bugger

For the most part, "The International Stage" is of a lower standard than he will play most weeks. We faced a better class of opposition against Coventry than Wales did the other night. It's entirely possible that Cullen may occasionally look decent against teams like Azerbaijan yet hapless against Middlesbrough.

He’s saved himself to an extent with two class goals against Preston and Stoke. He isn’t the answer in any position, and with all the people I speak to they think the same. But the question as the season ends is will he be a part of a squad next time around that can go up ? Can Burgess and Cabango be the same ? My answer is no for Cabango and Burgess and possibly for Cullen if used sparingly.

The same question can be asked for the majority of last summer's signings, the club needs a total rethink regarding recruitment.

I think it's Cabango or Burgess. Not both. Together they're a problem. Individually they could be decent enough alongside a footballing CB. Both have been before. As for Cullen, we've seen it time and time again over the last four or five years. He's a nonentity when played upfront, and almost always the same when played in midfield. His reputation is almost entirely based off a six week long purple patch that was nearly eighteen months ago at this point. Can't fault the guy for being able to sniff out a goal, and perhaps there is a role for him as a supersub off the bench if we need something with 10-15 minutes to play, but he can't start. He is not and never has been good enough.

In Inoussa's defence he has been in and out of the team and has rarely had a chance to have a decent run in a side doing well. Certainly if he'd had Ronald's chances I think we'd have seen more. His best performance for us this season was IMO against Man City. That suggests that there's something there. I wouldn't rule out a Vipi style second season renaissance IF we can start feeding the ball forward with a bit more pace. Otherwise I tend to agree. Galbraith is really the only standout. Widell is getting there and would benefit from a run in his best position. Yalcouye should probably have featured more. Stamenic has been hot and cold. The loans largely pointless, and Wales may not be good enough if he's not even featuring out on loan.

Look at the signings over the last two windows analise them individually bearing in mind we have scheduled payments over the length of their contracts and the ongoing costs involved. Then look at the return we are getting, plus some of the decisions made after the signings. Plus are they good enough to form a promotion challenging team. When you look at our last league game only three of the signings started and it could well have been two if Key was fit. Galbraith who is excellent, Widell who I think could be very good and Burgess who continually has questions asked about him. On the bench was Idah who I'm still not convinced about. Stamenic who as you say is hot and cold and a liability with the cards he picks up. Ward who shouldn't be here. Walta who for some reason we hold back when he is fit to play 90 minutes internationally. Samuels-Smith was on the bench and rarely used as was Yalcouye and Nunes on loan from Premier League clubs and deemed not good enough to start. We were short up front and loan out Wales, one for the future or not good enough. Casey went back because he wasn't being played, so why bring him in. Then we had Santos who wasn't here long enough to get his kit dirty and let's not forget about Benson. All in all is this recruitment good enough.

That defeat is on Bellamy. Why he thought it was a good idea to bring in Cullen and Harris only the gods know, both, way out of there depth. The game turned and they saw a light and took it with 4 mins to go. He should have brought in Sorba and broad head allday long and we’d no doubt be plying the Italians tomorrow. He’s a young coach and I rate him, but his youthful limitation were laid bare the other night. We started to recompose with Sorba on, in the end the Bosnians were hanging on for pens ( all big lumps probably knackered) and we all knew which way that would go….

For me Broadhead and Sheehan who have the experience. Brining Cullen on wasn’t the issue it was his position, completely alien to him.
