| Election on 19:23 - May 26 by Whiterockin | Currently there is nothing to worry about, if there was a referendum tomorrow the vote would be no. Plaid would need to show that it would work and the only way they can do that is make major improvements for the people in Wales. In my opinion that can not be done in one term. |

| Election on 10:52 - May 26 by union_jack | I heard yesterday that Ioreth spoke to Starmer after PC won the elections and spoke to him about HS2 compensation, the Barnett formula and before Starmer could put the phone down said he q=wanted to raise the subject of independence. 5 minutes into his leadership he raises this. He just can’t help himself. People beware, the sole raison d’etre of PC is to break up the union. At ANY cost! |
He may have just said, Plaid's intention is to push for a referendum in the event we win a second term. I want to ensure our position is understood from day one. No problem atall with that whether you'd be for or against Indy. It may be as simple as that. Unless someone had a transcript of the conversation we can't know.

As suggested by Martin Shipton, this is the rump of Welsh Labour doing their best to undermine the Plaid government probably at the behest of KS and the most woeful Welsh Secretary since George Thomas, Jo Stevens. They got the concessions they were after in the budget and still voted against. KS has gone and please God she goes when AB announces his new government. Also please God Andy tells Ken Skates to grow up and start working constructively with Plaid as it seems Andy himself appears to be saying he is willing to do.

It’s the world we live in. Many can’t see the difference between a ‘bad’ politician and one who just holds different beliefs to them. The example I always think of is Michael Gove. I disagree with practically everything he did but that doesn’t stop him being a very effective politician. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Richard Selby i.e. Director, Pro Steel Engineering a few year ago... QUOTE: "The current M4 infrastructure is on its last legs. Pro Steel strengthened one bridge and it was in a terrible state; this section of motorway was built during a time when little attention was paid to quality control. The level of congestion will also continue to infuriate business owners and commuters for years to come and will only be detrimental to the economy of South Wales. This is a major blow for improving economic prosperity that would benefit the whole of Wales.” END OF QUOTE. It was also asked what happens when this stretch of vital transport infrastructure is "shut for major repairs". Then there is Wales CBI describing the scrapping of a relief road as "a 'dark day' for the Welsh economy". Enter a new bunch of isolationist backward yokels and the obvious project to turn Wales into an impoverished economic backwater continues! And to think some want to give these incapable clowns even more power!

I read the other day that the M4 was actually paid for and built by the US government to speed up transportation from the south wales docks to their various airfields on the route to London so they could get their supplies/ammo/cargo there quicker.

Bellow is YesCymru's Twitter/X account, scroll down and try to find any mass-despair and outrage that Wales does NOT have a vital modern/strategic and economically efficient thoroughfare i.e. aforementioned 'relief road'. And what will happen when an aging, crumbling and decaying stretch of infrastructure has to be closed for major repairs, because the passage of time will dictate that the inevitable will happen some time in the future! Like I said YesCymru and Plaid Cymru are a bunch of isolationist backward yokels and daydreaming fantasists. Perish the thought of vital transport infrastructure strengthening links between English and Welsh businesses hey! https://x.com/YesCymru?lang=en

I reckon Wales's has a better chance of the American's improving things, the Welsh Government? Seriously? Take a look at the record of Cardiff Bay governance over the last 27 years!

When you drive along the m4 to London you’ll see loads of slip roads with “works access only” signs. They are all airfields or other military facilities. You don’t see many of them on the way back.

469,570 signed the petition against the 20mph before it closed, they could see what Labour in the Senedd couldn't. This was the turning point for Labour in Wales and the beginning of the end. This petition showed that there was enough opposition to Labour in Wales to bring them down and it did.

It’s a very poor article from the Telegraph as it lacks context and detail. I’m completely against the 20mph limit in its current guise and would revert to the 30mph limit in most areas except where it’s justified, for example busy town centres, outside schools (but only during certain hours ( for example 07.30 to maybe 7 or 8 or 9pm when activities have finished - lots of schools are now used by community groups etc in the evenings) etc. What this article doesn’t say is where the collisions are taking place. It may be there have been no fatalities in 20mph zones which would mean the policy had been a success, or it may be those collisions in a 20mph zone which resulted in a fatality were attributable to drivers doing 70 in a 20 or drivers high on drugs or intoxicated or drivers texting which is increasing significantly. It may be that collisions in 20mph zones have increased, but just don’t know because there’s no info there. [Post edited 14 Sep 12:33]

Tghen, when young people are feeing Wales because they don't see a decent future here the isolationists blame the English "incomers" My son has said for several years his aim is to leave Wales because in his words, it's dire here and getting worse! He's 18 in 2 weeks. he's started learning Italian and that is his aim, to move there. I love Italy, love the food, love the people, the weather is better and to be honest, I never really did a second team but our trip to Rome had us both supporting Roma!!! We both want to go back. Young people with ambition are leaving Wales and that won't stop until a government improves Wales. Don't hold our collective breaths.

Now then, my point of view, they changed to 20 where there was no need and wasted money. Then they changed some back wasting even more money. In the meantime (and in my local area I have a few examples) there are roads that are 40/50/60 that need slowing down. There are country lanes where you can do 60 and it's dangerous. It was my bugbear with the Senedd at the time, poor planning and implementation. They should have gone national with a road review andchanged every speed limit that needed it, whether that was to increase or decrease it. It was disjointed, incompetent and negligent and wasted millions. And yes, it cost Labour dearly. Now we have Plaid, whom I voted for by the way, and they are going off piste already, doing stupid stuff that the majority don't want (such as the Celtic countries meeting) when there is so much hard work that desperately needs doing. Our politicians are truly woeful.

Yes but who did we (not me!) vote in instead. I’d rather the original shower personally especially with this summit of the party leaders if the devolved nations and Ireland meeting up today to discuss independence.
