Eventually the clubs will tell the National associations to sod off. They'll have to.
The International calendar has to be seriously rejigged to give players at least Six solid weeks of no games of any kind. No tournaments, no friendlies other than maybe club pre-season warmups, no qualifiers, no commercial trips to Malaysia. Nothing. If that means pausing domestic leagues to play World Cups outside the Summer then so be it. The precedent has already been set.
There is simply no reason why Wales need to be playing Ghana and Romania in June. None whatsoever. [Post edited 26 May 16:33]

How anyone can expect players to be match fit a month after their last competitive game is unbelievable. Players these days remain fit throughout the summer but match fit is something different. It's a recipe for disaster with players getting injured through lack of match preparation. Thankfully it shouldn't affect our club much but it is still stupid and pointless. | | | |

I give a stuff about international football, regularly attending the CCS for home matches (and used to travel away when I was in my 20s) so was gutted to see Wales miss out on this year's World Cup when I was at the Bosnia game.
