Talking to a primary school eacher today who is currently taking the swimming lessons as mentioned above. 3 weeks swimming £3,000 plus £2,000 for bus to get them to the pool. 😮 [Post edited 6 Jun 13:17]

This is the problem, investment by councils into the curriculum would be far less expensive. Maybe divert a few of their ridilcious funding we often see into saving kids lives. (Well those that can be bothered to go)
This figure is shocking.
Over (1.3) million pupils are considered persistently absent (missing (10%) or more of their possible sessions).
There are 500/600k who don’t attend state schools, around 80k are educated at home, not sure if that’s included in those shocking stats.
Bradford hot spot.
While 101,000 children are eligible to fill state classrooms, Bradford's severe attendance crisis means that on any given school day, approximately 8,000 to 9,000 of these children are physically absent from school

Very true. In Swansea, you can access dedicated women-only swimming sessions and lessons at several local leisure facilities. These sessions are operated in private, female-only environments with all-female lifeguards and instructors, making them ideal for Muslim women requiring privacy and modesty. Both my children learned to swim in my local swimming pool and I hope the basic skills they learnt will at least give them a chance to stay afloat and be water safe .
NPTC decided to close my local baths as a problem we cannot finance any more , sorry .
Flats and housing will be in that spot soon , work ongoing for demolition . |
