Senedd debates banning face coverings. 16:24 - Oct 22 with 2014 viewsAnotherJohn

I am somewhat undecided about the wisdom of a general ban on face coverings, but Sioned Williams' meltdown at the very idea of discussing a ban on the burqa and niqab was something to behold. The proposal, she said, is "shameful" and analagous to the German persecution of the Jews in the 1930s. Anybody would think that no other European country had moved towards such a ban - countries in the very political bloc that Williams is so eager to rejoin. What a ridiculous figure she cuts.

Wiki says:

As of October 2025, the following European states have introduced a full or partial ban of the burqa: Austria, France, Belgium, Denmark, Bulgaria, Portugal, the Netherlands (in public schools, hospitals and on public transport), Germany (partial bans in some states), Italy (in some localities), Spain (in some localities of Catalonia), Russia (in the Stavropol Krai), Luxembourg, Switzerland, Norway (in nurseries, public schools and universities), and Kosovo (in public schools), Bosnia and Herzegovina (in courts and other legal institutions).

Purely in the hope that they’ll corner the immigrant voter market. It’s about votes and staying in power so that they can cause irreparable damage to Wales.

Put your tin hat on Uni, I can think of one at least who would tell you otherwise and its not the valley womble.

Why “ welcome” illegal migrants into Wales when other Brits are treated with distain mainly as they can’t speak Welsh
Sudanese or Afghans aren’t

They welcome migrants with skills we Welsh do not have. They do not welcome illegal ones. Only those UK law have defined as an Assylum seeker . This includes men who prevent they wives and daughters to be educated in schools or have jobs . There is no reason for Afghans to be in UK as the Taliban wants them back and have offered an amnesty..

Go off on a bit of a tangent here and as I have banged on so many times , i will repeat .

My late Mother had a domestic originally from The Phillipines whist in Morriston , and also her partner was a cleaner who between them had to clean up human mess and vomiting so the Ward looked top notch for visitors .

Decent and honest immigration is necessary and I applaud them applicants here to work .

Sadly Border Controls and endless background checks are the get out clause for any freebies on offer will be in the meanwhile gladly accepted .

Them carers had a flat in Morriston and arrived every day on time , even asking for more hours to clean the mess we make post op , other locals will be glued to their duvet .

I think it's the way that people like that politician react so quickly by comparing anything like this with Nazi Germany. It immediately shuts down debate, which ironically, is an anti-democratic value that the Nazis were so keen on.

I thought Plaid had said there was no such thing as illegal immigration, it was in fact their leader, Rhun ap Iorwerth who said it.

Many of us know a fair bit actually. These false comparisons are meant only to shut down debate.

Hitler and Goebbels believed in the big lie, tell it often enough and people will believe it because it's too big to not be true, our politicians clearly follow this idea.

If we look across Europe today and see the problems caused by politicians we can see trouble looking. The whole place is poised on a cliff edge. In response the politicians use certain words such as radicals to describe protestors when many are just desperate ordinary people.

Our politicians are two faced, self serving hypocrites.

Ergo , we are to blame
As a society , we have allowed it mwecgavexsllowed our children to be brainwashed by teachers with political agenda
We allow the word Nazi to be used freely as a pejorative when it is inappropriate
These demos contain folk not much younger than us and their offspring
I rate you highly as a poster and man and I partly agree with you but not wholly

He made a mistake in saying this as they are illegal immigrants if they do not claim Assylum. They are also illegal immigrants if their Asylum claim fails. The Reformers will run his nose in this is correct comment. What he said was not party policy.

I believe that many women wearing the Burka would prefer not to.. They young Plaid MS needs to speak to these women in confidence . Only a person with zero self respect would agree to this dress or be one of several wives.

There is some thought that the Home Office are puting local Afghan in the main customs over UK law and turning the a blind eye to polygamy. I like to think this is not true. It would be even worse it the rate layers are sponsoring it by paying benefits to large families with only one male breadwinner..
