It is a massive subject with huge implications, particularly if someone gets granted permission to settle in one country and then automatically gets the right to move here. What I have noticed the last couple of times I have flown is less of a hold up at passport control with facial recognition and fingerprints speeding everything up. So this isn't the issue it was.

24/25 the NHS spend £64M on interpreters and translation. The ministry of justice spent £42M that is without the other government departments.

Yes. A Nation State is its borders. It should have full power to decide who to allow in and who to turn away. Removing those borders weakens the Nation State, which some would claim is a deliberate tactic. I have no problem with anyone moving to the UK from anywhere as long as they contribute to society, can pay their way or prove that they can support themselves and their families, and respect our laws & customs. Anyone who doesn't do that should be subject to removal with no legal protections.

That's because very little investment has been made in the Energy sector. Tories and now Labour been walking around with their eyes closed and spending our Taxes on the things they shouldn't have been spending on. That clown Miliband paid out billions on green energy and then when he became "Foreign secretary first thing he did was to give 88 million to Palestine, he just loves to give away tax payers money.

This country has been, and is continued to be sabotaged. Apparently there aren't enough reservoirs either. So there you have it, but yet you've got idiots yearning for millions more to be added to the population of a country with a 'third world' come "nothing works anymore" vibe/state of decline that increases by each and every passing year.

It's hard to fathom what world a lot of these politicians and their supporters and apologists live on? It's not irrational to be extremely worried about the future of this country? If its bad now? What is it going to be like in the future?

I’ve never considered myself to be far right but I certainly am now looking at how it seems to be defined now I’m a natural Labour voter at heart but haven’t voted for them for forty years The landscape has turned on its head The most vociferous people regarding illegals should be left wing or Labour as wages are driven down by foreign “ workers” The people most affected by migrants are “ working class” The “ better off” can live in areas that eshew dubious shite I see and hear Raynor Corbyn Abbott Ribeira Bell and the disgusting plaid clowns and want to vomit

Yes. Just before Brexit, the Oxford Centre on Migration Policy stated quite correctly that it was not possible for the UK government to control the volume of immigration into the UK while freedom of movement within the EU was in effect. Having left the EU, our Tory government failed to use the powers that became available to control entry and we saw the disastrous Boris wave (complete with the future welfare and pension laibilities that this brought). Now we want to go back to a system that did not work (including the Dublin regulation, which ended up allowing more inward transfers to the UK than outward returns). We sit alongside an EU which itself still has highly porous borders and can't agree on the best way to deal with what many see as a huge problem. We see Spain regularising the status of a large number of North Africans, who will then be free to move elsewhere in the bloc, and Greece and Italy still receiving many arrivals from Africa. The cryptic message Burham is trying to get across is that re-joining the EU would replace migrants from ouside Europe with people with greater cultural similarity to us, who would also be less likely to take up permanent residency. I suspect the truth is that we would see fewer arriving from South Asia but a lot more who originate from Africa. [Post edited 26 Oct 7:21]

Most of the 2-3 m Muslims in UK are fully behind the £88m and so am I. We are held in high regard by some of the richest Arab states in the World. £88m . The Arabs of Man city just spent that plus another £40m on player from Nottingham Forest over the Summer. We need young (Christian) European male and female workers. When that happens we can deny Visa for Asians students mostly Male (Muslim).and others.

Aye and then they expect U.K citizens to fight for a country where it's own flag is seen as offensive, worthless and something that should be removed from all public view. What motivation to sign on the dotted line hey? Crazy ain't it?

They are some of the most inept, clueless tw@ts God ever put breath into as this disconnect shows. Dreadful even by Labour's low benchmark They want a war now do they ? Here's an idea - empty the migrant hotels, the hostels, the HMOs, round up the whole shoddy backlog of applications give the buggers a uniform and basic training and send them to Ukraine - If you come back in one piece you can have your lovely UK passport Sonny Jim....Now let's see just how much you love this country of ours. Off you go. Russian lines are that way. Two birds one stone. Somehow I don't think many will be too keen to go and be shot at, why would they ?having free bed, board and pocket money rocking on our dime. No let's conscript native sons and daughters as cannon fodder instead Absolute bunch of utterly contemptable weigh anchors... Yes, I'm against it. It's a godsend for criminals and terrorists. All they have to do is get into one country and then they can travel anywhere. With closed borders every country is a challenge. I saw that Burnham is blaming Brexit for all the boats, maybe he's right, after all if we were still in the EU they'd go back to how they used to sneak in here before.

The stuff about illegal migrant returns being easier before Brexit was a blatant fib, We ended up having to take more in under the Dublin Regulation than we could return to the EU. Dublin Regulation (In and out) The figures by year, and with transfers into the UK followed by transfers out of the UK to EU member states. 2015 131 510 2016 558 362 2017 461 314 2018 1215 846 2019 714 263 2020 882 105 For much of this period less than 10% of UK requests for outward transfers were accepted. For example, in 2019 263 transfers were made following 3259 transfer requests. In 2020 as by now a non-member entitled to use the process for an additional year the UK made 8502 requests for outward transfers of which 105 returns occurred. And Burnham is making it up as he goes along! Is anybody surprised? I thought he coudn't be worse than Starmer (and I'd had high hopes for him) but I'm not actually surprised that he's come in and pulling different stunts. Starmer was spineless, Burnham has more spine just a dofferent agenda. We need a general election. I'm really not a fan of Reform or Farage but I can see them picking up again. The only thing that will stop them is, I believe, if Kemi Badenoch does a very good job and pulls voters back to the Tories. This Labour government is going down the crapper again. We're running out of choices and those we do have are not better than what we already got rid of.

14 years in power the Tories had and contributed to the mess we find ourselves in , just because they’ve changed leadership doesn’t mean that they’ll change the inept performances we had to endure. This country needs a total reset from the 2 main party system which has proven over a century and a half to be useless , boom and bust rinse repeat but this time our very security as a nation is at risk as it was in the 40,s but this time with no real alley to help us out due the labours determination to destroy our so called special relationship . Maybe the idea of Reform in power is distasteful for some but for gods sake we cannot continue on the same path as previously.
