Depends what happened. The Mail is desperate to make the immigrant link, but until that's proven the answers could be varied.
Plenty of high-profile knife crime in London already and there's lot of discussion in the press about what could be done: mainly involving the police, schools, parents and communities working together. Plus a new law's been introduced that means there's a two strike rule and anyone caught carrying on multiple occasions can get banged up.
If it's a mental health problem, as being reported by the police, then that's a whole different set of answers.
If it's a terrorist issue, again that depends on whether it's homegrown or a recent immigrant. |  | | |

British reporting would convince us it's mental health as opposed to terrorism until it was conformed that Bin Laden had come back from the grave and committed the crime himself. Could we argue that every radical (no matter what religion) has mental health issues?
I'd argue the BBC do more to damage stereotypes of people living with mental health issues than they do the other group they are petrified of offending. |  | | |

It has been confirmed the victim was an American and the attacker was a Norwegian citizen of Somali decent!
