What a signing. Ridiculous the stick he has had, doing everything what we have needed in a player for as long as I can remember.

Fulton played well when he come on aswell.

I for one never criticised his ability, given his pedigree in the Championship he was bound to have it in him when he got up to speed.
I did question the signing on fitness though, he has had a major injury and hadn't played much footie recently.
If we get 30 games at a good level out of him this season he will have been a great signing on a free.
If he gets injured this month and sits the rest of the season out it will have been a waste of a wage.
Looking good so far though.

The type of player who won't get pulses racing and will be generally underrated as a result, but will be noticed more when he's not there.

Bit like Jack Cork.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Had a huge bearing on how we took the game to Millwall. Soaked up much of the pressure and allowed Grimes to float and run the show. Woods was anonymous, as was J Wallace which says it all.

Until today I felt he was a tad anonymous. His vast experience came to the fore and we blossomed.

Could be our biggest signing, given our deficiencies in CM last term, where many were calling for a slid DCM. He and Grimes together are more than that.

He makes the balance in midfield seem far better.

He’s finding his feet in a good team, more to come from him. The new Leroy Fer. I hope.

Has he had stick then? Nice little axis with a Grimes, allowing Grimes to play with a bit more confidence. I’ve been a bit surprised by how good Lowe is too - I knew he was a good, the sort of player that you look at in opposition teams, even when you are beating them, and I think ’I wish we had one of them’ - but he looks a class above.

Yeah, lots of comments like he's "anonymous" etc and even been accused of hiding from possession, but that msy have come from other site.

I like him alot, struggled with injuries so may have been a bit rusty at the start, but seems to be growing in confidence every game. Fulton looks the business when coming off the bench aswell in fairness to him. Nice balance in midfield at the moment.

I think those comments have been game specific haven't they? I haven't seen many if any, criticising him as a player.

My point is the criticism of his performances have been harsh, he has made a solid start. Being accused of "hiding" for example, I would say is criticising him as a player.

I think there were a few comments in his first games that he looked off the pace and unfit.

Good to know it sounds like hes getting better, it bodes well as has been mentioned he frees grimes to push further up which is what hes best at.

He the sort that we’ve been hoping for for a while I thought. You can see that his presence lifts some of the pressure in midfield and we don’t look so scared. It would be great if we could a couple of good years out of him.

Would that have been against Newpaaart? They all looked clueless that day, but not every player hits the ground running anyway. He offers a link between central defence attacking midfield comfortably and looks like one of those that just ticks along once they get going.

Yes re Grimes, but not just to play further forward.

If you notice. he had the freedom to float giving him licence to orchestrate from deep, wide and further forward. The best bit of the game for me, watching him thrive.

The symbiosis between him and Smith is special, a definite chemistry, and a definite edge for us in the middle. Millwall's midfield marauders went missing.

Tbh andy I have only seen parts of the wycombe game so I'm only going off what posters I trust have said..

It sounds like smith is getting more into games, as you say his understanding with grimes will make us an even better team.

Grimes is better with Smith,no doubt Eddie, and it's what we all want.

It' s players job to prove fans wrong.

Grimes corners though are often shocking ,as is his shooting.

He provides a solid base for Grimes to float on, giving Grimes time and space. Gibbs-White provides the more dynamic forward thrust. It's looking like a good mix, a balane we've missed for a while. We had to give him time to settle and a chance to get fully fit.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

I always liked Jonahan De Guzman in that roll. The team seemed slicker when he was playing. e acted like some sort of lubricant with the ball seemlessly ending up with Dyer Hernandez or Routledge. He had a McKay look about him when defending unfortuantely.
