Exactly. Our local Tesco Express now has a red/green traffic light system I walked in on Sunday not knowing about it you'd swear I had just done a the place over with the alarms going off & the staff shouting at me. What have we become?

Laws are Laws and many are brought in for public safety. Just because you dont agree with one doesnt give you the right to break it. Perhaps there is nobody getting killed by drunk drivers so we shouldnt have that law either and let people get killed because of it. A law has been brought in and we have to obey it just like I have to wear masks. The law in Wales is absolutely clear. You are not meant to leave your county expect for things like work or education. You shouldnt be travelling outside your county for shopping. People travelling from Carmarthenshire to Swansea or vice versa or travelling to a shopping centre if they are outside Bridgend are breaking the law just as much as people speeding, robbing the bank or drink driving and deserve to be punished, These policies are introduced to keep us all safr.

And yet folk can still, fly off abroad to get a tan. And we were allowed to eat out, go to the pub, go shopping without a mask, even though they said this was a deadly disease. Now its so bad, I cant go 1 mile to a shop to get a paper, because its in the next County. Its a bloody mess, the rules are all over the place. Seatbelts too. The thing about these rights is they are not being removed but simply suspended. As long as they all come back then there's no problem.

Today I had to travel further to the other side of Swansea to pick up a new printer so I could do my work, the store next to the rugby ground was half the distance but was in the wrong county. I could have travelled there if I was going to work in that store though. Go figure

Whether they are nonsensical or not they are the law and we should be trying to follow them.. Personally I think the stay local or 5 mile rule was far more sensible than staying in county especially as I live 10 houses away from the Neath Port talbot/ Swansea border. The whole idea is to restrict travel to prevent the spread. Had we not opened borders and pubs when we did we would not be in this mess. Coronavirus needs respect, If you dont you end up where we are now.

The figures in Wales cast doubt doubt on whether masks work which is what I have been saying. Cases went down when masks weren't being worn but have gone up since. The only real way of preventing covid is good social distancing ie 2 metres which most of the UK used but Johnson got rid of it in England with 1 metre plus and suggested masks could be used. The evidence is clear you are far safer at 2 metres than 1. The problem is people trusted Johnson's advice and used masks in the mistaken belief they would prevent infection. They might have use as an additional cover at 2 metres but the 2 metre rule is the key not masks. There has been evidence that if you are next to someone at 2 metres it takes 15 minutes to get infected but at 1 metre it takes 1 minute. Hence why masks in shops is a red herring as you are not next to someone for more than a minute whereas in Work and Pub environment you are next to others at less than 2 metres for hours yet Johnson failed to bring in masks in the environments they were needed. There were 7 cases in the DVLA on one floor a few days away.

Masks don't prevent you catching it but can help prevent larger viral loads, we've been around this many times. They can help ensure you get a less severe illness but need to be used in combination with the other measures. They are no good if people break or ignore the rules. If people want to keep the right to die from a global virus, it's their choice but please do it with like minded people, otherwise stay 2 metres away, wash your hands, wear a mask, please.

I think the figures you use to cast doubt on whether masks work, are subject to so many variables, that they prove nothing. E.g. when the tarmac melts sales of ice cream often go up, but the latter is not caused by the former. I would be interested to see the evidence e.g. studies etc. (rather than general rules adopted) to say it takes 15 minutes to get infected by someone 2 metres away. The outbreak at the Bank Statement makes interesting reading in relation to this. The fallout from a single sneeze travels many metres, can expel around 100,000 droplets, the smaller of which can remain in the air for several minutes, (longer with aerosolisation). It can travel at speeds of over 100 miles an hour. Now I think I may be correct in saying that even at a slow 30mph a sneeze from someone 2 meters away will deliver a large payload of their snoz directly into your fizzog a sight quicker than 15 minutes. If they wear a mask different story, if you wear a mask it still affords a degree of protection, even if some do not. Surely that is a matter of plain common sense, discussed many months ago on here along with relevant research, but it is good WHO, the UK and Scottish Government and even latterly our own Government have finally caught on.

The figures I used for timings were the figures of experts not mine.If you look at England just like Wales their figures came down throughout April May and June. When Johnson opened up pubs with his 1 metre plus rule the figures soon started increasing reversing in the wrong direction. This has followed on when Wales opened pubs. Up until Johnson decided to open our borders the figures went down. When he brought in his Air Bridges policy a few weeks later as people returned from holidays the figures started rising and have continued to since. The English scientists and medical advisers just look those in the rest of the UK wanted to keep the 2 metre rule but Johnson decided otherwise. They didnt want to open our borders. Johnson decided otherwise. Mark Drakeford supported Frank Atherton's views. Johnson went against Chris Whitty and Jonathan Van Tan. These medical advisers were right all along. We are now seeing the resuls of the politicians folly and are in a mess because politicians decided they knew better than the advisers. Here is part of an article from Jenny Harries saying the evidence on face masks is not very strong but Johnson still went ahead with the 1 metre rule in order to open pubs Deputy chief medical officer Dr Jenny Harries added: ‘It’s only required in those areas where we can’t maintain social distancing, and it’s school corridors where kids come out of lessons, they’re maybe shouting and excited, bumping into each other — and in areas where there is a high transmission rate. ‘The evidence on face coverings is not very strong in either direction. It certainly isnt as preventive as keeping people 2 metres apart.
