Anyone waiting for an operation?

SBUHB are apparently hoping to start up elective surgery in NPT again, around the last week of February.

Lets hope the case numbers continue to fall and the vaccinations start to help.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

I know my mate's got an long over due appointment with a consultant at NPT next week , which hopefully will be the start of treatment for him. I consider my self fortunate to have had surgery at the Heath just before Xmas although it was for internal cancer . I have to add under the circumstances the care was superb.

My daughter has had appointment after appointment cancelled, I could breach the swearing guidelines on this topic. However, it seems if you can pay that’s ok.

Hopefully she’ll get another appointment in the immediate future. I know someone who had their cancer operation cancelled 2 weeks ago, they’ve had a new date in just over a weeks time, so fingers crossed your daughter will get her new appointment soon.

The life saving treatments/ops have been going on.

Keith, my wife always has a bee in her bonnet about private care via NHS means, medical secretary's doing their consultants private work in NHS time for example, it's....NOPE, I'll breach the guidelines too

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Wishing you all the best Boundy. I was in Singleton today and they were, as usual, first class.

It's people who know they have life threatening conditions I feel really sorry for, when they are made to wait, have appointments cancelled, I can't begin to imagine the stress levels.

Cheers , I consider myself very lucky & grateful , lucky it was slow growing and was caught in time , hadn't spread to my lymph nodes or bones, lucky the side affects after the op are minimal , and extremely grateful that I live in country where the chances of survival are greater than some other parts of the world.
I can't imagine the emotions of the person & families finding out they can't be treated because of an earlier postponement meant it was too late for a positive outcome , it must be absolutely devastating.

My missus had a cancer grade 4 that spread to her lymph nodes which were removed. She caught lymphadaemia which can be an issue but is treatable.

She s still here, bles her, keeping me in check.

Elaborate on that?

It is highly likely the surgeon who would carry out surgery privately is the same surgeon who would do it on the NHS on a different day.

The Welsh NHS has the worst waiting lists in the UK.

Good news it’s sorted
