What do you suggest?
Permanent lockdown
permanent masks
forced vaxx
permanent social distancing?
Covid just like the flu is going nowhere.

We have to start moving back towards normality, I reckon a large majority of us have had enough now. The people I feel sorry for are those who refuse the vaccines, they are the ones at most risk. Iguess in time we will see the effects of not being vaccinated and somebody will be able to say I told you so.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

We do Cat, but the jump is enormous this time. There are strong arguments to have waited another month to get more people double dosed and to maintain mask wearing and distancing. It is what it is and people will not be sensible. Going to have a lot of unwell people and many with long term effects, but I guess we have to fly the kite sometime. Perhaps it's still a bit too windy now though.

I agree with that Prof, a slower move would have been better but I'm sure Wales wont move as quickly as England.

The sad rality is, Prof, people are breaking the rules anyway because they've had enough. This jump could turn out to be a disaster or it may have negligible effedts. Personally I reckon cases will soar again but hopefuly the double vaccinated will hardly feel it. Those who chose not to get jabbed have made their choice. It would have been preferable (to me as an interested ignoramus) to get everybody who wants to be vaccinated to get both doses first but politicians eh? They worry about more than just covid and we do have to take into account other health problems caused by the lockdowns.

Common sense should tell us to not smoke , drink in excess, take drugs ,drive at high speed , not get up in the morning but we still do

I agree Cat, but I have a 19 year old (single vaccinated) and 15 year old (not vaccinated) whose health may be risked (I won't say life as that's incredibly unlikely) by idiots. At least another month would allow nearly all 18+ to have two vaccines. Of course the timing coincides with school holidays in England which may help in terms of infections in schools.

Prof I have grandchildren the same age and can fully understand where you are coming from, but many a breaching the regulations now. I know this does not make it right but people now need a choice. If you think you are at risk take extra care, I know I will be wearing a face mask in some places and sanitising regularly. But it is time to move on and single vaxed should take extra care in the meantime.

This isn't normality though! 25k plus new cases per day and rising isn't normality. Far more cases than any other European country and we are going to fully open up the country.

We can forget about international travel this year. What country is going to allow Brits to visit, vaccinated or not. 25k plus new cases per day isn't looking like it's breaking the transmission cycle, although it seems to be mitigating the effects. Foreign countries however, will be more concerned about the amount of new cases than anything else.

Ha, the only thing of those I do is get up in the morning! Never smoked or took drugs, I used to drink too much but now I drink too little, even my Gastroenterologist said I was safe to have a few beers every month!

Evrything in moderation is the thing, I just hope Cooper realises that doesn't apply to us scoring goals, the more the merrier I say!

I said "moving back towards" and I never said things were back to normal. Foreign travel is likely to be allowed in many countries for the double vaccinated so take your choice.

We have the most cases per 100k but you have to take into account hospitalisations and deaths, on deaths per 100k we are 10th in Europe with Hungary being top, Belgium, Italy and Poland are all worse than us.

A face mask doesn’t protect you, it protects others.

Why does it have to be all or nothing. Everything has to be binary. Why? Just so the pathetic moron Johnson can call it ‘freedom day’. He is and has been all the way through this a systematic and knowing killer.

The latest of course is now if your wife, sister, parents die, it’s your fault. We told you to be careful.

I have significant concerns about this apparent free for all too in light of the current circumstances and the Delta variant. We have no collective common sense.

We we couldn't, at least, still mandate face coverings in enclosed areas and ensure enclosed spaces were well ventilated is beyond me. The thought of mass indoor gatherings over the next six weeks makes me a little nervous too.

This is going to find the unvaccinated and put pressure on health services. Those who haven't been able to be vaccinated I worry about, others are making a stupid mistake.

It has to happen soon, but I feel this is a step too far at this stage. If only India had been put on the red list 2 weeks earlier!

Is it really, vulnerable people mix with other's mostly through no fault of their own. They go to day centre's, have carers calling etc, where have those people who work in that environment been/mixed with etc,

Its madness just to open everything back up, while cases are climbing rapidly, anyone with half ounce of common sense can see it.

Ron like many hasn’t wised up.
Our mass egos have been hammered.

We can’t accept Covid and what it does so people like Ron deny it and insult those who are realistic about this curse

I've never claimed to be super bright. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see through what is going on here. If you can't see it now you never will.

We're not getting our freedoms back, not unless we fight for it.
