Neither did Coventry. 7 starts in 20 odd games. 3 goals.

Patience? He was on loan, we didn’t have the luxury of patience. He wasn’t very good last season, it appears he has certainly put the work in since. He showed nothing in the time he was here that he should be replacing Lowe. Fair play to him this season so far. Pleased for him.

So why did they fork out a million or two to sign him? They saw the potential Cooper did not. The "He had no centre forward" excuse is blown out of the water. He was a good player at Swansea, good player last season at Coventry and he is proving it now in spades.

Guehi was also on loan but he was afforded said patience after an error strewn start to his Swans career. Another case of Cooper who you know and not what you know. STID

Coventry have been fantastic 2nd half in particular. Not many teams in this league would get anything there today Consistency is the key in this division - if they back this performance up over the next few weeks they’ll be a force to be reckoned with

Don't be shy Blaine. Most agree with me but are afraid to say so publically. We could lose the next three games and I d love to see Russ plan unfold. Fact is,we are being conned.Beaten by mediocre teams, drawing against poor teams and Luton draw seen as summat wonderful to behold. We have months more of this drivel before the penny drops-as it will. Progressing we are not in any way.

That’s because we had him for 18 months. Guehi was pure class, regardless of making an error he was clearly showing that in training. It doesn’t appear Gyokeres was going that for us, Brighton or Coventry and he could barely muster a start for any of them.

Because they clearly saw “potential” that he could be useful. He clearly wasn’t ready last season otherwise they would have played him more. They had him of half a season and barely gave him a start. He wasn’t good enough to get a regular start for all three managers that he worked under last season.

The players are not good enough for any sort of any favourable transformation, sadly for many yourself included this is going to take a little while longer until the penny drops.

It's really quite simple We do not have the players to play as Russy thinks. We won't this season which leaves this one to consider. Surely we HAVE to avoid another relegation. It is not progression at all. We also need to avoide seeing Piroe pyssed off so that he leaves asap in January window when offers will come in for him without question. Our Board will then take the profit. Now then,"positivity" ..Laughable. We should be outrages at being taken for fools. I care about the Club not Russell Martin .

As the great Bill Shankly once stated " Football is a simple game, complicated by idiots." never was truer statement made. Its as if the Manager is trying to re invent the wheel [Post edited 2 Oct 2021 14:44]

I remember fans and ex players discussing Guehi on the concourse, all the old players were saying how good he looks and the fans were saying he was not good enough. With VG he was struggling and not getting game time to bed in.

It's like when a simple clearance is required and we stroke it into trouble. It is the very first matter that should have been sorted and it could be easily.

I think it was around 1978 when the penny dropped and I realised that life even in football isn’t a tap to turn on and off. Much of what we report are comments, the rest I agree is belief in Russell Martin. But what else can we do ? He’s hardly had a chance.

He got nearly 1400 minutes last season between us and Coventry, not to mention countless hours on the training field and neither manager felt him deserving of starts. You are talking about different periods in time. When you are 22 years old, a season of first team experience, be that training or match day squads can transform players. Doesn’t mean they are deserving of starts during that season though.

We are playing as Russy thinks though. 71% possession. We aren't threatening to score though. That's where he has his work cut out. Coventry were thrashed 5-0 by Luton last week, this division is like that.
