I work in the rail industry for a rail company where we just came to work like it was a normal day since Covid where our managers,company directors sat in thier gardens doing keepy uppys having BBQ's "self educating" their kids while taking a full pay packet while we juggled our kids round work. We have just been told for the second year we will be having a pay freeze and national redundancies will be announced in the coming weeks.....what a way to treat your essential workers eh? |  |

Say they give everyone a 10% pay rise.
The guy on 100k gets and extra 10k.
The guy on 20k gets and extra 2k.
And so it goes on.
I have always said that pay rises should be the same lump sum for everyone. In the above cases they would both get 6k.

Peter Bottomley also believes in better pay and conditions- for MP’s and feels they deserve more. £82k per year plus expenses isn’t enough. He’s only been in Parliament since the mid 70’s and his Mrs is an ex MP.
Id be happy to pay Mp’s more, on the condition they don’t have second jobs and take payments from third parties.

I totally agree Builthy, percentage pay rises are a complete scam. My wife could get a 10% rise and an MP could get 5% but in real terms the MP's rise alone is roughly twice my wifes raise and. The MP's rise being over 4.1k and my wifes raise being just less than 2.2k making the MP's raise alone about 16% of my wifes total salary.
Percentage rises are just making the divide between rich and poor even greater and the well off always seem to get higher percentage rises than the workers too. | |
