Want to thank you for what you do. Without people like you the NHS would collapse.

An average postal delivery is easily over 20,000 steps but that doesn't include the time spent in the sorting office. I don't know exactly how many steps, I wore a pedometer once and it said over 28k but it was cheap and unreliable.

40k a shift is alot. That's close on 18 miles!

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

When I first started my first delivery was a bit over 2 hours, then it went up, and up. By the end I was out over 4.5 hours. The average walking rate is apparently around 7000 steps per hour.
What do they do now? It always seems to be changing and I finished in 2011.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

People always talk about the doctors and nurses but without the Porters, cleaners, estates staff, kitchen staff etc, the NHS would fold in days.

I thought the pandemic had amply illustrated how many jobs that many people consider menial and not important, are actually crucial!

It's the caseworkers in hospitals that do the real day to day work. They do what nurses used to do years ago - personal care, and get paid a lot less too.
