What do you do for stress release ? I don’t smoke, rarely drink, so exercise is my go to. I’ve ran 11 marathons, relatively quick, nearly 400 parkruns, god knows how many 1/2s but haven’t got time to train for marathons anymore and got bored of running during lockdown (still do parkrun) so switched to weight training. Have a stressful job, so it’s a good stress release. Don’t smoke, v rarely drink, my escape valve is exercise.

Walking the dog is a big help too

I haven’t touched a drink for years, never smoked and spend a lot of my time exercising, just so I’m ready 👍😂

OK I've changed it.

Exercise for me to.

I love running most of the time. I've completed 6 marathons and loads of half's, but do get bored with it too sometimes. Especially during lockdown when it was my only exercise option.

If you like weight training and fitness in general I'd suggest giving crossfit a go. I started 5 years ago and haven't looked back.

Even though I'm 46 I'm fitter and stronger than ever.

I do like a pint though too.

You’re only a couple years older than me, we transformed our garage into a gym during lockdown, best thing we ever did. Use an old spin bike with the Peleton app and use iFIT app for weight classes and cross training. Got a ski erg and the cross trainer automatically goes up in gradient and resistance in line with the class. It’s ace

I walk the dog, used to walk a lot until my hip got bad but now that's sorted my old pooch isn't up to long walks in the woods.

During lockdown when I was told to shield my son had me playing Xbox with him a lot. I got a taste for those RPG zombie survival games and beating him on FIFA! it does relieve some stress.
Now though I've started walking more again, I have recently spent a fair bit on really good waterproof trousers and jackets and a top pair of hiking boots, me and my camera will be off into the wilds soon. A bag of sandwiches, a bottle of water and my camera and buggering off to some sparsely populated countryside seems very appealing!

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

100% this. Having more money isn't everything. Give up chasing wealth and chase happiness instead, it's far more rewarding.

Wife’s got a good job, we don’t need a bigger house. Live in a nice area, not far from Peak Districts and I can take care of mam and dad or any mates if they need help.

Neither my wife or I are materialistic, she’d be furious if I spent a lot of money on a present for her. Nothing we need, nothing we want.

Plan is to move to Scotland when we retire.

It does, they can be stressful, different tact now being used, may the best man win.
It had to come to it in the end.
Saves me stress 😉

Work a minimum 50 hours a week, usually 60.
Rarely drink but when I do I make it a good one.
Watch the Swans most home games, and some away.
Watch Wales regularly.
Watch a bit of local football .
Before Covid, usually had a couple of holidays a year, and weekends away, Xmas market etc.
Usually got a project on at home.
5 - 6 hours sleep is plenty.

We are similar in outlook then. We don't need a bigger house and our little Victorian terraced has a 100ft long garden so plenty of private green space too. We are also comfortable. We can afford what we need and most of what we want is doable with some patience and saving.
My wife appreciates thoughtful presents so a £5 git is fine, she'd also go berserk if I spent too much.

It is a great stress relief alone to just learn to be happy with what you have got. Constantly chasing more is just...stressful!

Walking the glorious Gower and Pembrokeshire coastal paths is my bag.

Was down Oxwich this morning with my 7 year old grandson and Chester the dog... superb. So fortunate to have it on our door steps.

It's good to have a bit for a rainy day, but best to enjoy life with what you have got.
I can't understand people who earn big, never spend it, never do anything out of the ordinary, and die with a big bank account. Mad.

The only money we put away that we will never use is into our sons savings accounts. We have a trust fund running until he's 21. he'll need every penny.

We also like to have about 1k in our savings for a rainy day, right now that's close to 4 but we're having a new boiler next week and we need a plasterer!

Otherwise yes, enjoy it while you can, life can be cut unexpectedly short very suddenly. And on that bombshell, goodnight. I have a good book to finish.

PS, does anyone in East Swansea or Neath know a good plasterer please?

There is nothing wrong with aspiration and earning good money.
Ive had lowly paid jobs and high paid ones are better, trust me.

I have always worked to live not live to work. Work often shafts you.

I love where I live and hope me and wifey have a few more good years left together. When one of us leaves we have pledged the one left standing doesn't curl p and wither away.
