Accrington v Plymouth 16:45 - Nov 13 with 1165 viewsKeithHaynes

Watched the game today, Garrick just gone off.
First off what a woeful standard of football, kick, hoof etc.
Although it’s 1-4 to Plymouth it hasn’t been pretty. Garrick looked on par with the standard.
That’s the second time I’ve watched him this season, he’s at his level for me.

Edit - I will add the commentator from Lancashire radio or whatever it’s called thinks Garrick is on loan from Swindon 🙄

Would like to see what Russell Martin could do with him.

Garrick cannot dictate the football being played at Plymouth. What he can do is get down and dirty and get stuck in. He is playing every week and getting assists. This shows good application and determination.

At Swansea he would play a couple of games and get muscle injuries. He seems to have developed resilience at both Swindon and Plymouth with no lay off.

He is big fast and quite strong good ball control, but showed no heading aptitude at Swansea. He will have no choice at Plymouth but to put his head on the ball on occasions.

Grimes was not up to scratch on a few loans but after getting stuck in at Northampton and getting 40 games slotted right int the Swansea team.

Garrick is also adaptable and can play in forward positions and wing back. If Bidwell and Laird go the club need two or three wing backs.

Let him get another 30 games under his belt and see how he develops. He has all the tools.

I have a an old work colleague from Plymouth. Goes to all home games and some away.
He tells me that he thinks Garrick is a headless chicken, with no ball control.
That's exactly how he was at Swansea.
Never going to make it above league 1.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

It’s hard to compare him with anyone other than a poor Carl Heggs.

You’ll be comparing Alan Curtis with Tommy Mutton next 😂

Garrick has definitely got something about him. He’s too inconsistent though in terms of what to expect from him on any given match day.

Mutton dressed as lamb maybe.
Not for me, he’s nowhere near the standard we need at the swans. I only base that on watching him numerous times, I thought he was far better when he was at Swansea.

Agreed. Will be 24 at the end of the season, not exactly a young player any more.

Garrick features every week and they are top of the league. Garrick would not be at Swansea if he had no ball control and they would not have given him a long contract.

Lots of great players have been dubbed "headless chicken". (Nathan Dyer for one) It may represent a high energy player with a lack of polish. That is why he is on loan and Plymouth to get experience and a more rounded game. He has certainly improved his resilience. He appears determined and is toughening up. In reality he has no choice if he wants to play.

Swansea have to develop players patiently as buying a polished diamond like Piroe for chips is a rare event. I have faith in the player who appears determined and getting stuck in, in a lower level of football.

The odd thing is he may well end up in the championship with them next season.
But from what I’ve seen of Plymouth they are definitely at this time of a lower standard. However it’s a great trip.

"But from what I’ve seen of Plymouth they are definitely at this time of a lower standard. "

But top of the league, ie doing what needs to be done.
I don't agree when people knock clubs for doing what works.

I’m not knocking them, but their style of play compared to what Garrick will be expected of if he returns to Swansea means he isn’t good enough, and when they arrive in the championship, and they may do, they will find out.

That’s the point. Nothing to do with giving them grief.

Garrick does not control the game plan at Plymouth. He was given a long contract and told presumably to get games under his belt and become more resilient. If the Plymouth manager tells him to hoof it long and run the channels then that is what he must do.

Swansea have a good record of putting young guys in the team and seeing them flourish immediately, It seems to me Garrick has the physical attributes Cullen for example does not have. He is bigger, faster and stronger. If he attritionally develops spacial awareness, judgement of timing and beefs up further he should be a good versatile asset. The fact he is playing at the top of league tells me he has a good chance. Player like Tyler Reid and Jack Evans could not get in the Newport first team like Ollie Cooper for example and were released. Garrick and Cooper (and Jack's younger brother Cameron) are fighting for their careers like terriers and deserve our support.

Like Jamal Lowe Garrick is a fast Jamaican winger. Jamal only started getting noticed at around 25-26.
