| Possession stats 21:23 - Dec 16 with 1125 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Liverppol v Newcatle 80*% possession for Liverpool. Chelsea v Everton 75% possession for Chelsea. Te better teams have more of the v ball and dominate possession especially at home . If Swansea is ambitious why would it not try to play in that way as well? I appreciate Swansea do not have super elite players but never the less it is a good starting point. Brendan did the possession stuff with some unherladed players like Monk, Tate, Neil Taylor Mark Gower, Steven Dobbie | |

| Possession stats on 23:39 - Dec 16 with 1046 views | DwightYorkeSuperstar | Just because we have similar possession statistics, it does not mean we are playing (or trying) to play the same way. Both Liverpool and Chelsea were pressing high and winning the ball back in the opposition half. As soon as they won the ball, they were forcing attack after attack. When they did pass it around, it was 30 yards from the opponent's goal - not their own goal. I sincerely hope you're simply fishing for comments and don't genuinely believe we play the same way. Chelsea had 4x Everton's possession and completed 4x as many dangerous attacks as Everton. Liverpool had 3x Newcastle's possession and completed 10x as many dangerous attacks as Newcastle. Swansea had 3x Nottingham's possession yet didn't even manage to achieve 2x as many dangerous attacks. Swansea had twice as much possession as Middlesbrough, yet they nearly completed as many attacks as us. Comparing us to Liverpool is perplexing. It is sad to see how conditioned (some may choose to use the words brainwashed or manipulated) most Swansea supporters are into equating possession with successful football. | |

. Proper benchmarking, fair play, with the right context. It is sad to see how many here are so content, with their heads bowed so deeply. Let's hope the comparisons with either what the twps still think we're doing is 'tiki taka' (ref Man City who have blown away that aged concept), or even a Liverpool, are firmly put to bed with Martin's failures. What Martinis dishing up is neither tiki taka nor is it progressive. It's regressive, in so many ways. And an insult to our proper Top 4 winning ways. Shame on the clappers, pretending to be happy. Dull as heck. Top 4 is what us proper fans deserve, esp after the past two terms. EPL is where we belong. Shame on the collective for letting us down, with this hapless manager, Martin. . .

| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

I read the word kamikaze a bit on here, when we start pushing or chasing a game then the plan goes out the window and we leave ourselves open. Possession is an important stat(not the most important) but we need patience when playing it and certainly need more quality throughout the team especially in final 3rd.

I am not a tactical expert of football technician but recommend a set piece expert in the model of Andy Robinson or Gylfi Sigurdson to help the team. Having 3 times the possession and 3 times the free kicks and corners needs to be exploited. Gylfi could change the momentum of many games with his free kicks. Grimes for what ever reason is not accurate enough. He may need help on the training ground to up his stats.

The second half of that match we were properly under the cosh. They threw everything at us in fairness. I think we only went up the pitch once and got the penalty that killed the momentum. Our possession in the first half would have been much higher and helped us go 3-0 up. 16 corners to 1 tells a story. We did well to win that match in hindsight.

Indeed. Ever the pragmatist was our Brendan, often we would go a goal up and defend our lead. We had the best defensive record and the worst attacking record in the playoffs from memory. The suggestion being made that our style of play currently is anyway at all similar to Brendans just because we have more possession is akin to saying Havant and Waterlooville play like Barca because they have more shots than the opposition. Chalk and cheese.

It’s tough to find match stats from 10 years ago. But I just looked at the Norwich home game to when we smashed them 3-0, Borini scored that wonder free kick. 53% possession.
