There was already some very obvious issues between Cooper and CEO Julian Winter even before the final, but afterwards the whole thing came to a head. 1 Cooper revelation on Swansea Independent, click above. | Steve Cooper and ‘that’ meeting which ended his time at Swansea City on 13:17 - Apr 29 with 1860 views | magicdaps10 | He wanted out but was not prepared to walk away with nothing, he had 12 months left on his contract but didn't want to work to the restraints. Club held on hoping someone would come in for him, meaning they wouldn't have to pay him off. Didnt fancy the challenge with the tools at hand, wish him luck in the final games AND hope his team pip Bmuff but what he done was wrong considering he still had 12 months left of his contract.

Sure there is a guy on another forum who has a perfect answer to Cooper and Forest. I don't swear on forums though ...

are you that sure for definate that was the case given Piroe and Obafemi were already targets with Copers involvement in their sourcing there was the Ayew gap solved and fixing the defensive hole would not have been an issue.... the real issue is the club prevented his moving on by ovepricing his compensation value when Palace came calling....â°

Hopefully it will come out Vetch so it can put it all to bed. Cooper had no involvement in Piroe, he was mentioning strikers to replace Ayew in and around the 4/5M bracket. He just wanted the most expensive tools he could get regardless of the finances/budgets at hand, he was not going to see out the last 12 months of his contract unless his realistic demands were met. Good luck to him, hopefully he pips Bmuff but he didn't fancy the job this season because he didn't fancy what was available to him.

it would be good to hear the truth..rather than conjecture.. I always thought and I'm sure its documented Pirie was targeted on Coopers say so but there you go. The amount of time given to "discredting" Cooper though is becoming crazy especially when he took us twice to touching distance of the PL....he is history now..obviously he is highlighted because of today...

You are of course, correct. Cooper fell out with the board because they didn't back him in January when we were crying out for backing. Cooper was given the least amount to bring his own players in of any manager (who managed through a transfer window) from the last decade - wanting expensive tools is not Cooper's remit. The final straw was the ridiculous compensation fees asked from both Fulham and Palace who were then forced to look elsewhere. Why people are talking about Cooper still when we have stories like Pato refusing to play or train yet again, I don't know. I have not seen it mentioned once.

facts eh... its hip yo discredit Cooper so many articles appearing to do so yet our current manager is not given scrutiny... much was said of the use of Smith at right back on Tuesday.played out of position..rather than give a Joseph bought for half a million and a prospect for next season ignored and now it appears Smith is not part of next seasons plans you know the one it is a about

| Steve Cooper and ‘that’ meeting which ended his time at Swansea City on 10:03 - Apr 30 with 1343 views | Badlands | During his time at Swansea Cooper had very good squads that reached the playoffs twice but for some reason bottled it. Threw away a good advantage in the first year and didn’t et off the bus in the final. It’s strange that all the good players brought in we Cooper signings and the failures were the club's. He wanted kids he or his team had worked with or knew so Piroe and Obifemi may well have been his suggestions. But, he didn’t hang around. At Forest he inherited a good bunch of players and, two seasons more experienced, has done well with them. I never liked the way we played and was bored silly for most of two seasons. He is like all our other managers and ex-Swansea City employee. | |

What do you mean ''for some reason''? The reason was we were heavy underdogs both times, playing Brentford who were a Premier League side in waiting, finishing above us both seasons... for a reason. You don't ''bottle it'' by expectedly losing to a better side. At Forest he inherited a team rooted to the bottom of the league that finished 17th the year before and a team that hadn't made the playoffs in over a decade. They are a good side because he made them one, not because they were one.

Turn a up and play to your strengths , something we didn't do , regardless of the opposition

That's exactly what we did, we played a game from defence as we did all season. His criticism seems to be that he didnt ditch what got us to a 4th place finish and go all out attack... with no recognized striker. Its lunacy. An early penalty and a red card doesn't help when you are up against a better team. Notions of ''bottling it'' are a constructed narrative devoid of reality. We were not expected to win. Brentford were heavy odds on both times, to suggest we ''should'' have won is nonsensical revisionist nonsense. As he has shown this year regardless of actual manager of the year winner, he is the best manager in the league by some distance. 3 seasons, 3 play off finishes (at least) when he was not expected to make the play offs when he took over at either club.

The Korey Smith one is strange but we only have an article from WOL reporting that he is on his way out, we will have to wait and see from the club on that one.
