| Mimi Xu on 22:16 - Jun 20 with 3790 views | Togg | She has the physique of an 18 year old. It's going to be tough for her to qualify this time but the experience will do her wonders. However you never know. I believe she is playing her first qualifying match tomorrow. I know her coaches rate her highly and what an achievement it would be. | | | |

A physique of an 18 year old and she is still a growing girl with bone density/length, lean muscle mass and tendon strength to increase further. The difference from teenager to adult will be profound. I and most were far different physically from our early teenage years to 21 year old fully grown adults. And to top that being a schoolgirl she isn't even putting in full time/maximum hours of training in yet! There was another superb physical specimen i.e. Serena Williams i.e. her thighs, her glutes her entire physique made her suitable for many power sport(s) sprinting, power lifting, weight lifting, rugby, boxing, mixed martial arts etc.

I don’t really watch a lot of ladies tennis. I lost a bit of interest when Anna kournikova wasn’t playing but looking at it from the outside it seems that apart from Serena there hasn’t been much longevity recently. Players are winning grand slams young then fading away relatively quickly.
| Mimi Xu on 12:04 - Jun 23 with 3302 views | Togg | I believe Chang is 28 and something like 280 in the world. So losing 6-4 6-3 by to an experienced adult pro is a decent start for a 14 year old girl with great potential. Its interesting that being second generation Chinese, her parents are quite small but she has the stature of being in her late teens. I was watching her hit with another second generation Chinese lad, who was probably about 4 years older. It was very impressive. Also when shes being coached. The speed an accuracy for someone so young is awesome. How far she will go, time will tell but its great to see someone from Swansea doing so well at a young age. I believe Junior Wimbleton is next for her | | | |

I believe I know her mum. I wouldn't say her mum is quite small and I am surprised as she never mentioned her daughter was a tennis player.

| Mimi Xu on 18:02 - Jul 4 with 2742 views | Togg | Mi mi won her second round Junior Wimbledon match against Argentinan Lucia Peyre today in straight sets. You can watch it on I Player court 12. You will have to fast forward through the other two matches. Although she had a dodgy first game by losing her serve. She sent down one ace at 112 mph. Not bad for a 14 year old kid! Let's see how she goes from here. | | | |

Wow! Wow! Wow! 112 mph and that is a good few years before she has reached her full physical development and potential and also a good year or two before she leaves school in circumstances when her mind is distracted elsewhere When she leaves school? Those extra available valuable hours to train, compete and gain extra experience will be vital!

| Mimi Xu on 19:35 - Jul 4 with 2663 views | trampie | Mimi played better today than yesterday, hard to believe she is only 14, she looks physically strong, nice that there was commentary on todays game, there wasn't yesterday on the channel I watched, I think her German opponent who she beat yesterday was 17 and the Argentinian seed she beat today was 16. Mimi first serve percentage is low, she seems to throw the ball straight up to hit her serve instead of just Infront of her to get her body weight moving through it, she could get more power in her serve, her ground strokes are powerful when she hits them but she does mix her shots up. Agree first service percentage can be better. Ball toss needs improvement too. All things she can work on. But beating the number 15 seed quite comfortably at 14 years of age is tremendous. I watched Kyrigos hit a 130 mph ace today. So for a 14 year old girl to hit one down at 112 mph is quite something. Wouldn't it be great if we had a Welsh girl from Swansea on the tour in a few years time. | | | |

Yes it would be great, Swansea got a mention today in the commentary I heard she was from Bridgend but plays over in Swansea, not sure if that is true. In my opinion she could have a huge serve if she could get her body moving forward as she hits it, she has a tendency to move backwards on her groundstrokes as well, her potential is huge.

Yeah from Bridgend, https://www.redditchadvertiser.co.uk/news/20253022.wimbledon-2022-xu-stars-secon She looks powerful and at 112mph I'd say her serve is already huge when many full grown men aren't as fast. I wonder hat the odds are on her winning Wimbledon within 5 years?

Her parents are initially from China but met in Swansea University. Could be they might have lived in Bridgend but Mi Mi has been coached from a young age at the Swansea Tennis and Squash and still trains and hits down there now. Also at the Academy at the Tennis Centre Morfa. Not sure if her parents now live in Swansea?? So I think Swansea can claim her. Huge potential as has been mentioned. However it's not an easy sport to succeed. She's dead focused though. On court 6 today playing in the doubles on the I Player this afternoon.

Didn't see today's game, her opponent is listed as being 17 years old, Mimi is a lot younger than most if not all of the field.

Only caught a few games in the first set. So didn't see much to comment. But she did brilliant to compete against a girl 3 years older as a 14 year old. It's hell of a difference when you are that age. I remember being 15 year old getting picked for the 6 th form first team in Rugby. We played some polytechnic team . I was the youngest on the pitch playing against hairy bearded hairy arsed men . It was intimidating to say the least. Trampie is right in that she needs to get her first percentage service up... because that could be hell of a weapon in the ladies game. I also feel her service has a little bit of a stutter in it. It's not smooth. Still she hits the big 15 (years of age) next year, so I'm sure theres a lot more to come.

She trains in Loughborough too, maybe they could claim her? Nah, where she was born and raised is where she's from. If that's Swansea then claim her, if not then we can't. She has huge potential, plenty of time but she needs to use it wisely because it passes very quickly.
