Incredible that she has sent an email from a non secure email. All my work goes from secure email, staggering thing to do.

To go from dreaming of sending planes to Rwanda to being sacked in a manner of weeks. Chancellor and HS gone. Gvnt is imploding.

Labour have a vote tonight to ban fracking for good. 3 line whip warning MPs not to back it or be sacked which has outraged a lot of Tory MPs including mine

This will be interesting. If a huge number of MP’s rebel it may be the end of her, if it’s just a sizeable number it will give her a bloody nose, she’ll show some leadership and strip the MP’s of the whip and then be rid (albeit on a temporary basis) of potential trouble makers who could submit a letter to Graham Brady.

If it were me, I’d vote the way my constituents would expect me to because they’re the ones who'’ll be voting at the next GE. Truss s likely to be history by then.

I thought that, but if they remove the whip, you cannot put in a letter of no confidence. Best to abstain. My MP has said that he totally opposes fracking but is being forced to vote with the gvnt. He is furious

If Truss wants the party to fall in line all she has to do is threaten to call a GE. It’s the last thing they want at the moment and it’s the biggest weapon in her arsenal. Doubt she has the bravery though.

Not good enough to be the Minister for Transport 6 weeks ago now he’s got a top job. They’re tearing themselves apart. I thought Boris regime was bad on account of the lying and sleaze, but the current lot are a complete and utter shambles.

I had this argument with ECB in the old days. My opinion is that MP's are there to represent our views, not theirs and if they are sure their constituents feel a certain way then they should vote that way. I am totally against whips, they are nothing but offical bullies, forcing MP's to vote with the Govt or against the oppo rgardless of how they or their constituents feel.

To me it's a massive problem in a so called democracy. The electorates wishes are completely disregarded at the whim of a few people who sometimes, as in when Bojo first took over and now with Truss, have not been voted in by the electorate but by a relatively small group of about 80k Tory members. That is anther thing that needs changing.

We need a GE but when we do have one what will change. Labour may well be a shoo in but will they improve things?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

MPS are our reps, but the cabinet has to put the countries interests first

Who decides what “our countries interests” are though?

Is it in our countries interest to ensure people can afford to live? Not starve and freeze to death this winter? Is it in our countries interest to prevent millions from having their homes repossessed because they can’t afford the sudden hike in mortgage payments?

Or is it in our countries interest to do whatever the markets want it to do to squeeze everyone until the pips squeak to increase the profits pouring into various offshore accounts?

The point there being that the people decided, not a few unelected politicians. That's democracy in action, for better or for worse.

I agree with you, but what happens if it's worse?

There will have to come a point IMO where the conversation will have to reopen. It would be madness not to.

I reckon in about 10 years there be some sort of platform to politically run on. Those older voters will start to reduce in numbers and younger voters will have knon nothing but financial pain.

With the likely house price drop we may also see a change in opinion of those who bang on about young people not buying houses because they've spent all their money on Netflix and avocado toast.

What do you mean “reopen”? It never closed! I’ve got no doubt we’ll rejoin in some form because that’s what the markets want and they are de facto running the country. I very much doubt the peasants will get a say on it though.

Closed at MP level.

It's too hot to handle at the moment.
