Retained stations are community based, if you call out the sexism members of the community lose their jobs and you risk the relationships you have in that community.

It’s hard as fire fighters are incredibly brave, literal life savers, and do things, I could never do, so it’s hard to criticise, but this is horrendous |
My relative was in an impossible decision. She asked my advice and I had to say unless you are prepared to deal with the potential feedback in the community you need to resign and go quietly.
It was against my principles, but she had to decide if she was willing to run the risk of being criticised or ostracised.
People in minorities face these dilemmas on a regular basis. | |

Sometimes I am speechless .
I have been at the sharpest end with these people and they are just @bout the last people to do this stuff.
One can only speak as one &nods and I don’t like any of the emergency services being stained .
Today, whatever else, these people will save lives . Maybe we should be grateful .

I think in any workplace there’s a certain amount of banter, piss taking and industrial politically incorrect language and in most cases it’s healthy and promotes team spirit and camaraderie. But there’s a line and when it goes too far and people start to feel like they can’t face going into work it obviously becomes a problem. When people are stressed and hate going into work they underperform, are far more likely to make serious mistakes and/or even perhaps deliberately sabotage their team. I wouldn’t want to be rescued by them either. | |
