There’s a lot being a young manager playing the style of football the Swans do.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

His ideals are fine, but his application needs more work and he's got to realise that there's only so much can be done with players of limited ability and I can understand his frustration with some of the squad and with the owners being reluctant to spend to improve a couple of playing positions in the team, but I'd rather him work with players who play in those positions now than try and fit square pegs into round holes etc.

At the end of the day we all want the team to do better and so does he, but sometimes you have to take your medicine in the meantime and go back to the drawing board.

Playing better lately though so hopefully he's stepping in the right direction.

I think he is seeing his squads ability and how to maintain a play off push.

Could be, pity he can't convince Winter to convince the Yanks to put a bit of cash into the Transfer pot, but I can't see Winter being that convincing, I think Birch was far more forthright in his approach to them.

Russell Martin is doing a fine job. We are well within reach of the play offs. Thankfully this forum is certainly not representative of the fans that go to our matches. Some who don’t watch us play are the most critical. That’s bizarre. And means that their views can be ignored completely.

I go to notches and I can say it bores me to death with the slow pass for pass sake, get into good positions break ghe lines and then pass sideways or backwards..feel sorry for piroe the amount of getting into good positions only for the ball not to come and go sideways or backwards. Martins football is boring

Most Swans fans appreciate the way we are trying to play. It’s admirable from a tactical standpoint. The issue on occasions has been the individual errors which are magnified when employing this style. It happened to Manchester City last week against Spurs when their keeper conceded a poor goal.

We do need a bit more pace in wide areas. But our club is being run differently now. We aren’t spending big money on players now. It’s not that long ago we were throwing away massive sums of money on journeymen like Sam Clucas. God only knows why £16m was tossed away on him.

A change of mindset is needed by some. Our manager and coaching staff are doing very well. A good run of results can get us into the play offs. The club sadly though isn’t geared to compete realistically at the top table any longer.

I know what you’re saying about the style of play…and I’m not a fan of RM at all. However after watching the Bristol match, to say RM was getting frustrated with our team is an understatement. A lot of the time he wanted us to play forward….then the ball was played back.

So….after watching that….and the last few games it seems like he’s trying to swallow his pride and change style.

I don’t get it todays game being a prime example,1st half boring 2nd half played some entertaining stuff.

Has to be down to Martin how we set up?

The players have to show endeavour as well, which they did.

OK I've changed it.

I’m aware of that NL.

Surely it’s down to the manager to set the team up how he wants them to play, I nearly fell asleep in the 1st half.

Passing the ball sidewards & backwards which we do a regular basis until we fall behind has to be RM management?

I love passing football with some purpose but Martinball is a crap watch.

I’d rather we had a different manager.

I thought we were much the better team before they scored, 2 decent chances from corners and once again Piroe missed a good opportunity, i think an in form Piroe scores, once they scored we looked like rabbits in headlight, we played a lot of long balls from the back today and I think every one of them was won by a qpr player, we don't have a target man capable of winning the ball let alone holding it up, maybe Piroe needs genuine competition for the main strikers role.

How are the tactics admirable? They are awful.

How do you know “most” swans fans appreciate it?

I’d say the facts suggest otherwise on both fronts. Those that think only people that physically attend can have an opinion, deserve to have their opinions immediately ignored. They clearly aren’t steeped in reality.
