A Semi of the League Cup losing to the most successful side in England worth £700m in their first top flight season in decades. What an achievement.

I wonder how much the Chelsea squad was worth when we beat them in the League Cup semi final ? Not to mention Liverpool earlier on in the competition? I can't imagine our budget in Laudrup's first season was anywhere near what Cooper has spent at Forest ? Now that is what I call an achievement. Not losing the first leg 3-0

In our first season in the Premier League, we lost in our first League Cup match 3-1 against Shrewsbury, the thought of getting to a semi in our first season at that level would have been stunning. But not entirely sure what your point is regarding us beating Chelsea. We also lost to Chelsea several times, 5-0 on one particular occasion. That’s what can happen when you come up against the super clubs. The trick is to put yourself in the position to get beaten by them (or on the off chance, winning like Forest did against Arsenal last year). You know, as opposed to losing to Bristol City and Oxford like we did this season. But it’s cute you are trying to make out they should have beaten Man Utd. If that what you have to rely on to have a dig, then Coops is doing a remarkable job.

What an achievement it was for us to reach a off final on equal terms and fail ,

If you think that’s failing (losing to a team who finished higher than us in the play off final), then you simply must think the last 18 months was a disaster.

The aim was to finish in the play offs as best case scenario. He did that. But glad you are continuing to read your hero’s wisdom. I see Coopers continued success is hitting you hard.

It's all relative , Cooper couldn't beat a team of of our equal standing and no I don't think the past 18 months have been a disaster , I'm not overly dramatic unlike some .

Did nothing special for us and his football was boring. Oh yes and failed two years on the trot to beat a team of equal standing with us. Still some continue their hero worship of a club and manager other than ours. Very strange

No love for the guy here either , tbh I have none either for ex managers , they've moved on, it's a pity some posters can't .

They weren’t of equal standing, in the same league but not close to being equal. Their squad was worth X4 what ours was. We don’t beat teams of equal standing most weeks, you have to decide when it can be labelled that way and when it can’t.

Success = praise. That’s why Cooper is respected by everyone who knows the game and gets the plaudits he does. This is why Russell ‘bottom half’ Martin gets criticism rather than praise. When he starts to emulate Coops by getting us playing top 6 football, he may change a few minds. Long way off though isn’t it…

I now believe Martin has had more than enough time and money to create a team significantly stronger than the one Cooper left behind. He has had 18 month to sort out flakey defending and slow sloppy play. In the last few months of this season is the time for delivery not excuses. Darling and Fisher are his picks. Bristol city pointed out their superior fitness in the FA cup tie. Under Martin ball this should not have happened because "Swansea put of lot of work into their legs" over the previous 90 mins. Under Martin ball the concept is the "longer things develop the better it gets". So where is it? At the end of the season there will be a report for Silverstein to read. Points and cup runs create cash with increased gates. Development of Benda, Cabango, Ollie Cooper and Cullen is a plus point. Whittaker could be a fifth if he helped himself by playing a consistent performer. In the end of the season assessment if Martin cannot point to points improvement he can only focus on player development arguing that the 4-5 young gun mentions along with Wood and Darling and Piroe have all needed time and space to developed at the downside of lost points. Off side is like being pregnant. It is or it is not. It is black or white. Grey is not an approved colour. Personally feet should be the focus not head or arms.

With respect, 18 games (54 points) to play for. Unlikely I know, but could end up on 93 points ? It ain't over until it's over. Then Silverstein and co will be able to see the whole picture of two full seasons of management. As Keith said elsewhere, review at the end of the season, not now.. We are currently 12th (i.e. midway) so not top six, but not bottom three either. However three points of top six, but thirteen off bottom three. Hardly struggling. Hopefully he new signings will give us the push we need to make the playoffs

Makes our achievement in getting to the EPL and winning it (Carabao obviously) even more incredible, right? We didn't spend 150 million on players after all and our stadium (so income) is almost half the size of the City Ground.

But then, to be honest, Forest had been under achieving for a long time. That's what financial mismanagement can do to a club. The way the current owners have started off they may already be on a similar road.
