Goes well with this mornings topic, if anyone remembers them when they were on their uppers, that last game of the season at the Liberty. Then this is pretty much a warning if anyone is in any doubt about our clubs downward potential.

I hope they survive.
Fair play to them for supporting the majority of us down here.

If Notts County don't go up they could be in deep poo.
£15 million in debt.
Sounds like they spend similar to Wrexham but Wrexham are pulling money in.

A club in financial difficulties thorugh overspending etc living outside of their means and we have folks on here calling our current owners "tightwads" because of the last transfer window.

I well remember the winding up order back in 1985.....in fact in the Tommy Hutch thread he is quoted about those times...

Lets hope we dont get into a downward spiral ....there are lots of contributory factors to any clubs demise but usually it is down to losing control of the finances throwing money at it in the hope to get promoted.

Todays lead story has doom and gloom but it cannot all be laid at the owners door

The current financial climate is hitting everyone in the pocket, some will not renew seasons because they dont have the spare cash, some because they are no longer enamoured with the football served up....we will have have a diehard core but we attracted lots of new fans when we came to the new stadium along with our arrival in the PL many of these may now be falling away..

We do need to be aware of reduction/loss in revenue streams form catering sales and hospitality packages as championship games dont hold the same draw as PL games and companies themselves tighten their belts in these testing times.

Whilst i am not enamoured with our current ownership model I do believe they will not allow the club to fall into this sort of situation and as much as it may upset us fans not to see absurd spending in the transfer market it may mean our club survives.....I dont see any white knights waiting in the wings this time around

Yes Vetch I remember 1985, the game against Walsall cancelled, Tony Petty, Hull home, as well as the Seventies and re-election.
Be assured if the owners continue on their current path, the crowds will dwindle, the team will continue to be stripped of it's best players just to pay the bills and we could end up in the National League.
Talk of money invested by the owners.
Yet we still have to sell, sell, sell.
These owners should have supported the manager in January. If they didn't want to then replaced him. Their inertia is worrying.
Yet you and Dr P keep eulogising about them as if they are the best we have ever had.

A club, similar in size to us, PNE owner Craig Hemmings says

"The way that central media monies are paid creates massive challenges for those of us in the Championship trying to compete. It costs about £24 million pounds each year to keep us going. Towards this we receive approximately £2.3m from season tickets and a further £7.3m in total from the EFL and Premier League. After other income streams, that leaves my family with an annual shortfall of around £12m which we have to put into the club each season."

I do not eulogise them like they are the best we have ever had all I do is point out how they are being prudent

We have always been a selling club even before our times watching Ivor, Mel Charles, Cliff Jones Terry Medwin all sold

ITs not something that has arrived with the current owners, selling Trundle,Martinez,Scotland, Brendan, Joey Scott Sinclsir, SIggi all happened under previous regimes.
You forget the owners "loaning" the club monies....it also happened under the sellouts but not on the same scale

The pitchforks are out at the moment because we saw no incomings in the Jan Window despite Martin being backed in the 3 previous windows.

BE assured if this manager continues serving up the dross to watch and lack of wins the crowds will dwindle too its not all down to the owners...

I keep saying it I am no great fan of the ownership model but they seem to be keeping us sustainable we will always need to sell to "survive" and compete as long as some of the income is reinvested Im happy

You are one of the many who have eulogised about the manager....despite his lack of return...maybe some of the targets identified didnt want to come are the owners meant to put a gun to players heads to make them sign?

MArtin refused to play Ogebeta, Finn Stevens maybe the owners felt they didnt want to go out of their way and spend maybe save the money for the summer and a new manager.

They certainly wouldnt allow us to drop to the National League as it would make their "investment" a waste

We will always need to sell unless we get a regular 100K gate and are bought by some oil sheiks...as I said we have alwys been a selling club

I remember speaking with him after they beat us in the Liberty, he scored a couple (I think).
Tidy enough fella, even laughed when I give him a bit of good humoured stick for scoring against us.

You honestly believe at this moment in time they will even get back any monies they have paid out ?
The way we are sinking like a stone ( and tonight's performance did nothing to stop that) their "investment" will never reach the level of what they put in.
If the club was sold to new owners tomorrow, the owners would get far less back

At least under their "prudent" stewardship they may have something saleable not debt ridden whilst also struggling on the football front.

Personally I do believe a different manager would get more form the squad than Martin improving our on the field performance. Last night further highlighted his ineptness and lack of learning.

You fail to acknowledge the fact selling players off hasn't just arrived with the current owners..its been part of the clubs model for many a year even before you or I were born

Their investments elsewhere and tax writeoffs would long ago have covered anything they spent purchasing us. Their primary concern regarding the Swans is now to prevent recurring losses.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.
