| Defense going forward 10:44 - Feb 22 with 1199 views | magicdaps10 | What's everyone's thought? I think a flat back 4 with full backs more tucked in. I would certainly look at Naughton at Right back to help settle things with his experience. | |

I think this conclusion was got too a long time ago even our inept manager saw it at one point but he has decided to revert to his "system" which fails and like last night we ended up with Oli Cooper playing RWB Naughton should be used if nothing else to steady ship and in my eyes should be made captain

With the players we have it has to be this.
| Defense going forward on 11:20 - Feb 22 with 1121 views | Badlands | Who plays at full back? Naughton, yes but we have no left back. Sorrinola and Manning seem to have lost their ability to defend so are dreadful wing backs and failed defender. Manning was dreadful last night. Cabango kept trying to organise the player but to no avail. And, as long as Grimes and Allen play we are always foing to have huge pressures placed on the defence. I'd always prefer a back 4. | |

Generally. I've never liked three at the back. One slip immediately leaves you wide open. Playing the kind of stupid football we do alongside that is just asking for trouble.

| Defense going forward on 11:51 - Feb 22 with 1081 views | jack247 | As it stands, we’ve got no first team full backs next season. I’m not sure who we’ve got coming through, but if we get a few more points on the board we need to start blooding them. I cant see us spending significantly on a position we’re unlikely to get a good resale value on, so we’re probably going to be looking at development players, rough diamonds or loans. For the rest of this season, four at the back absolutely. | | | |

I would even consider Grimes at left back, out of the way as he is never dropped, with Naughton at right back. No pace there but solid. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| Defense going forward on 12:58 - Feb 22 with 1027 views | RichardO | Would have kept Darling on and put Wood to full back in a back four and let Cabango win the aerial battles in the centre he is more accustomed to at this level. Sorinola would have gone to the ring wing if only to offer defensive protection for Woods no sub needed that early, think Darling was yet again used as a scapegoat for Martin's style ineptitude. Put Piroe and Whittaker up front, Whittaker looked a lot more comfortable on the left. Which would mean Cooper on the left wing to protect and cover for Manning. | | | |

I'd agree with your first half tactics. I'd to replace Grimes and Allen in midfield with Fulton and Ntcham (thought he made a big difference when he came on). Couldn’t believe how many times Joe Allen got dispossessed, gave the ball away or allowed a Stoke player to get to a pass before he did. Ollie Cooper was full of energy and had some success but none of our midfield or 'wing backs' created any space … they were static, they were flat, they crowded each other and when Fisher had the ball they simply moved to their designated places … table football formation. That is all down to playing to order. The losing is bad enough but losing in that manner indicstes one thing … the manager had lost control.

| Defense going forward on 13:43 - Feb 22 with 958 views | BryanSwan | Latibaudiere Cabango Darling Manning Thats about all we can do, play Grimes, Fulton and Allen in front to give as much protection as we can. Manning would go forward and the RB would tuck in, maybe Naughton would be better than Latibaudiere but thats a much of a muchness. Although I don't think the individual playing staff are the problem. | |
