| Ryan Manning to move on & Martin’s comments indicate he is going nowhere on 18:40 - Feb 20 with 1535 views | EagleEye | It’s clear that the club will not bow to Mannings wage demands, good luck to him he has improved significantly since joining us - much of this down to the coaching team. Opportunity missed not giving him an extension that could well cost the club more to find an able replacement in the long run Not sure how much more of a ‘major downturn in performance’ is required. Can it get much worse than 3 wins in 16 games ? Agree the next 2 home games could be crucial - what would be an acceptable return ? 2 draws, 1 win ? How low are we setting the bar to say we are avoiding a major downturn. Long time season ticket holders failing to renew in their droves could well be the deciding factor in the future for Russell | | | |

We have had " the next match is crucial" for a while now and nothing changes. It looks like as long as RM keeps the club financially on an even keel he is going nowhere. One player sale a year probably makes up for any season ticket shortfall.

They had an incline he was off a few months ago but yet again......no plan, no idea, no thought as usual from the owners. Time to stand up and atleast look like they care.

How many sellable assets do we have who would command a fee over £1m in these difficult times based on this season’s performances ? Piroe, Grimes, Whittaker … the cupboard is bare, our whole squad is not worth a lot. The power of season ticket sales should not be underestimated. In addition would anyone trust this lot to be capable of signing adequate replacements ?

Nobody wanted Grimes when they could have had him for free. Optimistic to add him to a list of potential high value sales. We could probably get decent coin for Piroe and Cooper as it stands. Maybe Whittaker if Martin hasn't ruined him by the end of the season.

Cooper. You only need a £2M sale to make up a loss if 4,000 season tickets. Easily done, some need to just look at finances and work out how to balance the books.

I get that Grimes divides opinion but he has played nearly every minute of nearly every game under Potter, Cooper & Martin. To suggest that Cooper is worth more than him at this moment in time is absurd … maybe in 12 months time if he continues to improve | | | | Login to get fewer ads

It's a simple statement of fact. His contract had less than six months to run and nobody bothered offering him more than we did. I will grant that perhaps we were catastrophically stupid in rushing to offer a payrise to a player with no other serious options.

Surely Martins sole remit should be to get the team performing, there's other's there who should be doing the finer details to sign players and sort the finances out. Some people on here seem to think its Martin who is spending the money, it's obviously not, he's got an input into who comes in and who goes out, but he's not got the final say, surely the January debacle tells us this. The above isn't meant to be directed at you WR, just my general observation of some people's post's.

But that 2m could be spent elsewhere if fans were entertained and therefore renewed their ST's, if the owners had a clear vision in going forward which they clearly haven't, they wouldn't need to scrimp, we must be close to having very little assets left. Next Level and Sustainability Init!

It was stupid of the club to offer a three-year contract to a rookie manager whose greatest achievement was successive mid-table finishes in the league below. Two years with an option to extend by mutual agreement would have been far more sensible.

It’s not just the 4000 tickets though, it’s the 4000 people who won’t spend money in the stadium, 4000 x £2.50 for a cup of tea is £10,000 every home game, throw in a couple of cup games and it’s close to quarter of a million. It soon mounts up when you think about it

The knock on effect of sponsorship too, less footfall = less eyes on their company name placement/advertisement. It instantly becomes less valuable. Impulse merchandise too would probably be a decent chunk of overall merchandise sales. Footfall in the club shop would always be many multiples higher on a match day than a regular week day.

Key word there is "serious". There's no way he would have turned down a genuine promotion candidate or a side offering more money (who by and large would have been the same). He held out long enough waiting for one to come in.

Martin should get the team playing higher up the league then, his usual deflection and blame game won’t work with those that know what’s what. And neither will the suggestion that we should sign players incase players don’t sign contracts. It’s not how it works, as much as it’s convenient to make as many digs to the people keeping this club solvent to try and absolve others. Maybe he should start playing the players he brought in for a start before thinking of getting even more.
