New Swansea City manager latest as talks go ahead 19th Jun 2023 07:15
Swansea City have approached Barnsley to ascertain details of the finances involved to employ their manager Michael Duff. Barnsley CEO Khaled El-Ahmad has been contacted over the weekend with numerous sources stating that a quick resolution had been made, and Duff was moving to Swansea. What is being reported this morning isn’t as final as it seems to be in other media, there are still matters to resolve. 1

It'll be good to finally get it sorted. As much as people want to blame our own club for the delays over Martin (or indeed, absolutely everything), they kinda forget that it could have been sorted weeks ago if Southampton hadn't tried to play silly buggers over the compensation.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Fair comment and exactly the situation as I see it.
Get it sorted one way or the other

How would you feel about being approached to take on a job as the 4th/5th choice. I think Duff would be a good manager for us, but think he may be happier to stay at Barnsley.

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!

How do you reckon he's 4/5th choice?

If he has any ambition, he will want to take the step up

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

I agree Ray.
I think we are a proper club albeit one with inept owners.
Our fans stack up well.

GET HIM OUT

Both sets of owners are as bad as each other, it's the players and more Importantly the fans who are caught in the middle.

I too want this farce to end as we cannot afford to f@ck it up by losing out on duff, although it looks like by all accounts he wants to come.

He or Barnsley might turn down our approach!
But has the club officially stated any of the names recently mention were approached?
An easy explanation when approaching Duff would be the names mentioned ahead of him would have been free and there was no knowing how long Soton were going to hold out on compensation agreements.
Or, yes you were fifth choice prove you should have been first.

It's very unfair to say 4th or 5th choice. If you draw up a shortlist and make tentative enquiries and managers do not remain on the shortlist it doesn't necessarily mean they have turned down a job they were never offered.

Barnsley can't turn us down, if he has a clause in his contract, allowing him to talk to other clubs, if the compensation figure is met

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

I think some caution should be considered here as it could be he was on a shortlist for a week or so or longer. Also, let’s be honest Rodgers was appointed after around eight others had said no.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Rogers had nothing to lose at that point though, he was out of work after a couple of failed appointments.

However, he cleverly set out to for fill his ambition by touring various clubs in Europe and learnt from the coaches there and we benefitted greatly from that and he's grown since and has had a decent career from those experiences, lovely man as well fairplay.

If he is an air head diva like Thiery Courtois he will be upset. If he is normal he will not give it a moments thought.

He is he does a good job will nbe moving on in about 24 months to a Premier league club or already at a PL club.

Martin has given him good squad to work with who pass accurately but need a bit of directness. As a stepping stone appointment Swansea is one of the best clubs to manager on planet earth.

Ex Swansea managers have moved on to manage the biggest teams in the world. Real Madrid, Liverpool, Celtic, Everton, Chelsea, Fiorentina and international teams Wales Poland Belgium and Portugal.
