No more rugby at the Swansea City stadium soon.
It is a shame really for supporters in the area.
Regional rugby is a bloody killer, not enough interest for them to keep playing at the Swansea.com
One good thing is more no rugby messing our pitch up. (even though the ground staff do an amazing job)
The flip side anyone who does support them might have to travel to Neath or Bridgend .
If ST Helens isn't developed.
This should be a warning to us also.

Even when the Ospreys had superstars like Byrne, Shane, Henson etc they could not half fill the stadium. The chose to play a grunt and grind negative style of rugby not an exciting free flowing style. A scavenger style.
A style based on pressure and forcing mistakes. Fans do not want to watch team make mistakes. Scrum scrum collapse scrum collapse yellow card grunt grind. That is 5 mins I will not get back. Zzzzzzz.

Rugby crowds have been poor since the regions came in, the WRU have killed off famous teams and ruined Welsh club rugby. No surprise a team only getting 5-6000 wants to move to a more suitable venue.
As for us, it doesnt matter if our crowds drop to 5k, we'll stay at the Liberty/Swansea.com because where else could we go AND we have a lease to honour.
What use would the Liberty be with no team to play there? If we did drop down to League 2 they'd jut have to make the prices so cheap people would still go, better to have 8-9000 paying a pittance than have 3-4000 paying usual prices. I remember Bradford doing this when they dropped, they put season prices at around 80 quid I think and got good crowds. | | | |

My main concern is how it might impact us financially. Do we get a fee when they play at the stadium. Are the stadium advertising contracts based on Swans and Osprey playing matches there. Are hospitality contracts based on both teams playing at the stadium. Does the Premier Club still exist, their agreement was for all events at the stadium. There are probably many other financial hits that we don't think about. I know Osprey supporters have meetings and pay to use the facilities during the week, will this continue. They can barely quarter fill the place as it is. I wouldn't worry too much about their financial contribution. It probably costs more to stage Ospreys games than they contribute to the pot.
The relative success of us and the Canton Jamrags over the last 10-15 years has basically applied the coup de grace to club rugby in Wales anyway. If you're a South Walian youngun interested in Sport these days you're going to want to be Cabango or Colwill rather than an egger. That's easily reflected in attendances. |  |

I would imagine there is a fee every season paid in instalments for use of the stadium. The payment is from the Ospreys to the football club not the council as I understand it.
Swansea city football club have the rights to all activities in the stadium including advertising conferences advertising etc. Advertising hoarding would drop if the Ospreys leave along with TV coverage. Osprey could easily just use the lower portioned off the stands.
Perhaps it is a negotiating position to get a discount.
There could be some scope for closer cooperation. The club shop cooperates.
A small supplement on season tickets for the Swansea could entitle fans a free game or two for the Ospreys. This is what Coleman and Gude are here for. Blue sky thinking. Offers for Swansea city fans for the corporate sections on rugby day. | |

A determined effort to promote the Ospreys has been lacking , finance or other issues .
Wales / Lions tours , my sister spent big money to see AWY , Biggiar , Sanjay on these trips to Aus and New Zealand , Campese was one tour guide she had .
For my sins could not be bothered to travel 5 miles down the road to watch Lions players in my back yard , maybe I was part of the problem regarding a now new home necessary .

I watched the first half and found it boring TBH. Rugby in Wales in my opinion is very, very strong in junior and age groups. The problem is making the professional game attractive to the paying public, having the majority of games live on tv isn't helping. Many are watching the games on tv in their local rugby club. The stadium is soulless and cold when under half full, Saturday in the cup was an example. To get the public in the match day experience must be far better than watching on TV, probably smaller grounds closer to capacity is the way forward. | | | |

At national level the military goat, the three feathers badge and royal patrons need to be binned.
Get rid of ex-players trying to run a business.
Regions need proper funding and again WRU more interested in spending on the Stadium.
Once the regions are competitive the crowds will grow.
Get the games at regular times and on free tv.
Hiding the games on obscure pay channels is nuts.
Its doable cos Ireland do it.
I used to like Ospreys on a Friday evening watching the likes of Phillips, Hook, Henson, Shane, alongside an All Black or two. Never know where to watch the games now. |  |
