We have differing opinions here at the Indy but overall we all agree that three points this evening will pretty much keep the Swans safe in the Championship for another season. 0 Swans win in first half style as Joe Allen shines 9th Apr 2025 22:35Swansea City got their win which took them to fifty one points this evening at the Swansea.com in first half style against a very dull and uninspiring Plymouth Argyle. It should have been far more than the three goals with golden opportunities missed in the second half. However, that’s it, job done and the Swans will be playing Championship football next season. It’s not mathematically done, but with so many permutations left it may as well be. 0

A draw is not enough for them they have to win. We will have more space to attack and will get behind them. Vipotnik has to start and be the pivot of our attacking play.

They have the worst defence in the division that plus their need for the win should mean we play both a more attacking side & style - Vipotnik up top for me.

We won't, plymouth are a totally different proposition than derby so I expect the starting 11 and set up to be different, we will be more attacking. This game will show how versatile sheehan is.

They are a desperate team who lose most of the time and have to go for broke. I agree we’ll probably win and play more attacking football. What concerns me is he has no idea how to construct an attack against teams who want to drag us into a physical battle and don’t commit to attacking us. We offered very little against Watford, Burnley or Preston and were incredibly lucky yesterday. It was probably our only real attack. We should beat Plymouth and have a great chance against Hull and Oxford. Win those three and they can’t really not give him the job. If that happens, he’ll really have to up his game in the summer because at the moment we are very easy to stifle.

But not losing. Imo he is doing well with a poor squad, his head isn't up his own arse and the players are playing for him. It's good enough for me considering we were on a massive slide after the charlatans comments when he lost the team.

We are home to bottom of the league and win would guarantee we stay up. I wouldn't take a draw.

Nor me I think its negative thinking to be willing to accept a draw. TBH.

It’s important that we make a decision on our next manager for the right reasons not because it’s the easier choice. Being a manager is more than just cobbling together a couple of wins though that will undoubtedly help his cause. I’d like someone who is tactically aware and having a knowledge of players here and abroad. I’m not saying Sheehan is not the right one but let’s not give it to him because we are all happy with the way things are going at the moment. They did that up the road and look what has happened there.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s done incredibly well to turn the slide around, I’d far rather him in charge than Luke Williams and I expect he’ll do enough to be here next season. The warning signs are there for me though.

Shall we take a chance on getting another williams or duff? A new manager who doesn't know the club, will want his own players or keep the man who has steadied the ship twice, knows the club through and through, has shown his versatility in changing formations in the last few games with a poor squad. Its a no brainer from me.

Or another Rodgers? Without knowing who are other options are, it’s difficult for either of us to say if he’d be the best appointment. I can see the logic in what you’re saying and I think he’ll end up getting the job. Just have to agree to disagree.

Rodgers was 15 years ago, our form recently hasn't been that good. Stick with what we know.

I think we will And I think we’ll look like Preston or Derby or Watford in a lot of games next season. Probably won’t be far off Duff, but I do think Sheehan will pick up more points and certainly won’t lose the players.

Why will we look like those teams? Didnt know that we are full of 6 foot bruisers who play with the ball in the air. Sheehan has shown that he can change things around to counter over teams.

We look like those teams when we play against those teams. He hasn’t found a way to attack compact teams who put men behind the ball. It’s hopeful aerial balls to Cullen or Vipotnik, with the occasional ball over the top for Ronald this chase if the opponents are a bit further up the pitch. He’s shown he can construct attacks against teams who come at as and leave gaps, no argument there.

Perhaps it's because we have a poor squad, since we lost paterson we don't have a midfielder who can unlock defences. Hopefully this swede melder is that player.

They stated in the forum they were still looking to employ the best person for the job and Sheehan was under consideration. The tone on their voices and the look on their faces didn't lead me to believe Sheehan was their number one choice. Time will tell, who knows.
