Swansea City : Will Watford prove to be the turning point ? 28th Jan 2026 10:56
Swansea City will certainly look to their EFL Championship fixture on Saturday (3pm) Vicarage Road against Watford as the turning point for their poor away form under head coach, Vitor Matos. Just one win away from home signals a degree of concern about this side and its overall character. But we don’t just write a few sentences or words and leave it there, we have to to look deeper. 0

Swansea City: Lawrence Vigouroux; Joel Ward, Ben Cabango (captain), Cameron Burgess, Josh Tymon; Marko Stamenic, Goncalo Franco, Jay Fulton; Ronald, Jisung Eom, Zan Vipotnik.

Substitutes: Andy Fisher, Josh Key, Malick Yalcouye, Ishe Samuels-Smith, Gustavo Nunes Liam Cullen, Ethan Galbraith, Ollie Cooper, Dan Watts.

REFEREE: MATTHEW CORLETT: Has not officiated at the Stadium
ASSISTANT: LEE VENAMORE : Has been an Assistant 5 times at the Stadium
ASSISTANT: ANDREW DALLISON : Has an Assistant 7 times at the Stadium
4th OFFICIAL: DEAN WHITESTONE : Has been Referee 12 times & 4th official 8 times at the Stadium

Swansea measure up as Matos tactics outsmart Watford 31st Jan 2026 20:26
Swansea City proved their worth as head coach Vitor Matos set his depleted side up to exploit the Watford midfield and press relentlessly throughout this game. The days of hanging on for a 1-0 win to be thwarted at the end of halves seems to be a thing of the past, at least for now. The determination was there with Ethan Galbraith on the bench and Melker Widell (out injured) there were a few raised eyebrows at this Swansea selection. 0

I live in Hertfordshire and have managed to get tickets to this with my two boys - very excited to see the Swans in the flesh again, it's been a while!

I'll be in row LL apparently if anyone wants to say hi .

Was going to watch Marlow FC away but managed to rope my mates into coming along to this instead. Gave up my season ticket last year and this will be my 2nd game live this season. I can't wait.

Me and the eldest are going, wont be getting into Watford until 12.40 though.

Will be nipping to a pub, for some food and a few beers with a few we know.

Looking at the wetherspoons, moon under the water, but I suspect it will be rammed by the time we get there, will have a couple of scouts on tbe lookout fir a decent boozer late morning.

Would be great to meet up with a few more if you fancy it.

Type of game worth putting a few quid on the same score at half time as at the end.

You are probably right, but Matos has to get an away win sooner or later and I don't fancy our chances at Derby or Ipswich and Portsmouth is a long way away.

13.40 now because of a bell end at Stafford who delayed our train by 20 minutes therefore we missed our connection.

However I have caught up on the train and had a sky one in tbe Wellington in brum, a usual haunt for us for the Birmingham and west brom games.
