| Were Our Expectations Too High This Season? 21:31 - Apr 22 with 2625 views | streetlyjack | Now that the season is coming to a close and we are stuck firmly in mid table I have reflected on our position and come to the conclusion that I probably expected too much this season, my reasoning for this is: * Relatively inexperienced manager in his first full season of club management, it was always going to difficult (the wheels seemed to fall off with the O'Dea appointment). * Loss of one of our key players and team leaders in Harry Darling. * Got caught in the hype surrounding our new signings (with the exception of Galbraith our permanent and loan signings have this season been distinctly average, underplayed (Widdell) or injured (Inoussa & Idah) so not added anywhere near the value I or others anticipated. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and in hindsight perhaps I should have read things differently - I will not let the hype spoil my season next time even if we sign Ronaldo or Modric Upon reflection we are exactly where we deserve to be and should be with the squad we have, without the arrival of Matos things could have been a lot worse. The frustration lies in the quality of the league this year which in my opinion is not as strong as previous years and with some top clubs struggling was a great opportunity to break into the play offs. | Were Our Expectations Too High This Season? on 22:25 - Apr 22 with 2536 views | MumsArmy | Many people had unrealistic expectations this season given the overhaul that had to be undertaken. We are in a really positive space though and I personally only expected a top 10 challenge and not much more than that. Stamenic, Widell, Idah, Galbraith and Walta are really looking like they could be good additions. Burgess has been the disappointment for me as he’s so poor with the ball and he doesn’t compliment Cabango. We need to see how Inoussa adapts when he’s back to full fitness but he’s shown flashes too and has pace to burn. I’m not sure how he will adapt to the press of Matos though. Exactly that. We've missed him more than Harry Darling. | | | |
| Were Our Expectations Too High This Season? on 07:32 - Apr 23 with 2365 views | Dr_Winston | No, not really. We'd ended last season strongly, and invested quite heavily in the Summer. Had we carried on as we left off under Sheehan we could easily have achieved the playoff slot that many people thought we were capable of. Even now despite everything we're only ten points shy. Four wins. We'd have to ask Sheehan why he decided to stop doing what had been working so well just months before. I can't really even put it down to personnel, because we'd replaced O'Brien with Galbraith who to my mind is a better player. | |
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

We have not really bettered last season. Similar points and league position in a probably weaker league too. There has certainly been no new manager bounce, with inconsistent results all season

In my opinion the football is far more enjoyable to watch so this season is better than last.

We had 61 points last season, this season we are on 60 with two games left. Since Vitor took over the side we have picked up 43 points from 26 games. Thats 76 points over the course of a season and usually enough for top 5/6. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

There was this season, that was the problem. Sheehan started strong and faded, Matos has remained consistent for his time here.
