Being turned into a 1000 bed hospital. I know 2 guys on this project and they've been on it for over a week now 7am-7pm. Among other projects one of them hasn't had a day off for 5weeks, that is some serious dedication

They also are turning the barn in LLandarcy into a field hospital. I believe it is meant to be open next week with 350 beds. The outpatients in Morriston Hospital is also being given over to inpatients as well and one of the wards in Neath Port Talbot is being changed use. Parc y scarlets is also being turned into a field hospital and Bluestone as well apparently.

As is Carmarthen Leisure Centre, the school next door is also being used for something but I don’t know what.

Not all the wards at Morriston are full, it's because there's a staff shortage

I said on Twitter a week ago that the amount of ‘field’ hospitals being set up in the whole of the UK is extremely worrying. If you added up the amount of beds you’re talking about several hundred thousand beds.

Indeed. Especially considering our government past and present has always been guilty of being under prepared and tight as arseholes, they are throwing a shit ton of money at this - I read somewhere that they are hiring that excel centre in London for 2 mill a month! - That's without the kitting out costs.
There's more to this than meets the eye!

Either they’re taking a massive precaution or there’s something we aren’t being told.

Point still stands though - a lot of people are earning a fortune preparing all these sites though. Good mate of mine is contracted to this bay studio job and some of the plans are eye watering.

You should listen to Andrew Cuomo who holds daily updates......forget it's New York......just listen to the information and explanations about the virus.
Starts on 11 minutes
Brilliant response right at end when he stands up to leave 51 mins 22

I think at some point relatively soon we are going to have to go back to normal life with or without treatments and, hospitals are being built ready for it to rip through the population.
I was going to go to bluestone last week. Hope I don't go a anywhere near there for a few years now.

Builthjack stated there was 1 in Builth Wells and North Wales have announced one in Mochdre.
Frightening times.
The one in Builth is now ready. The Council carpenters have made 3000 plywood coffins. Frightening.

Not just the barn at Llandarcy, also the sports hall, and the little gymnasium room there as well. The WRU barn at the Vale, and a disused factory unit in Bridgend industrial estate (although this one has just been reduced in size from 400 odd to 200 odd). Currently considering a small 60 bed unit in Builth as well.
Despite all the tradesmen working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week (including all over the bank holidays) to get these facilities completed, there are still people taking photographs from distance, trying to get people in trouble shouting about 2m rule for likes on social media. C*nts.
I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

Earning a fortune?? Do you want everyone involved to do it for free? I'm sure all the chippys, sparkys, floor layers etc wouldn't mind working 4 weeks of 7 days, 12 hours for nothing mate.
When you say plans are eye watering, what do you mean?

Lockdown is just about flattening the curve to let hospital supply meet 'demand' isn't it? It won't 'send the virus packing in 12 weeks'. SO that means the numbers of total deaths will be as first set out 250k to 400k until a significant change in a) the virus itself b) a vaccine c) immunity or d) abetter strategy of test, trace and isolate. The hospitalisations and deaths will just be a matter of timing otherwise? So this is an attempt to boost supply so that when we are let out again as we must be at some stage, we are ready for the next spike before the next lockdown and we can cope with a bigger spike, so the lockdowns can be shorter.

Good god no. They deserve every penny for stepping up and putting these hours in. Maybe I could have written my post better.
What I meant was the authorities are rubber stamping anything in sight and using a 'money no object approach' at the moment which I find unusual considering how prudent they normally are.

I'm not involved in the Ford Plant, or dealing with Swansea council in these field hospitals, so can't speak for them. But all the other authorities we are dealing with, they certainly aren't a money no object type projects.
Despite all the money spent, blood sweat and tears, I sincerely hope that they will have all been a complete and utter waste of money.

Yes, let's hope they are not needed. But better to be prepared.

Absolutely mate.
The authorities stated from the earliest stage that the " worst case scenario " would be an 80% infection rate, so any plans going forward would have to be made on the unlikely assumption that eight out of ten of us would be struck down by this virus.
They have to plan for the worst case scenario.
I'm guessing that the 80% figure will not be met, but all plans would have been geared towards this.
You might think I've forgotten, but one day, when you least expect it, my time will come.
