Unlike comrade Drakeford who ignores the common man. I think his statement that the two week firebreak was a success must be the most deluded statement ever made by a politician as cases soared in Wales. [Post edited 26 Dec 2020 11:29]

Of course they could have mitigated the bad behaviour. The fact remains that nothing, absolutely nothing has been done to enforce the rules so these idiots are carrying on with impunity because they know nothing will be done.

Has Drakers, given big fat contracts to his mates? Did he go into hiding and miss most of the important meetings? That is why Wales has the highest infection rates over the last 7 days. The highest total cases per head of the population. The highest death rate in the uk. Drakeford has had only one priority during the last year but has failed the Welsh people spectacularly. Good job boris ordered enough vaccine and pep and did it quickly rather than wait and go through the normally slow procurement process. Still I guess the donkeys in Wales will still vote for him and his cronies in may.

Wales has consistently had stricter restrictions than anywhere. It's hardly his fault we have the dullest most arrogant selfish population in the UK. Boris was too dull to avoid getting it himself.

The problem in wales is they went from a far too short two week lockdown into a free for all. Drakeford was just too stubborn to keep the high infection rates in lockdown until the rate fell sharply. A lack of leadership which led to hundreds of unnecessary deaths in Wales. I guess you blame all the other key workers like doctors, nurses, shop workers bus drivers for catching it then? I agree, we did go from firebreak to quickly, but evidence has shown that the firebreak did work well.As i stated, he didn't get everything right, but on balance has got most decisions correct Doctors and nurses don't shake hands with covid patients, they wear PPE, and probably pick it up from other staff members during down time
| Dumbest statement of the year on 13:16 - Dec 26 with 510 views | majorraglan | Drakers Firebreak was a success in that it brought down infection rates and the firebreak was actually something that was being advocated by scientists and others in the UK, contrast that with the mess that England was in with their shambolic tier system. Where Drakers and WAG went wrong was not having strict restrictions in place to capitalise on the progress and gains afforded by the firebreak. Unlike the first lockdown when pretty much everything was closed and anything that moved stood out like a sore thumb, the more recent restrictions have provided people with a lot more freedom and it must be very difficult for the cops to deal with business as usual AND enforce lockdown legislation etc, especially if they are losing staff to Covid too. The figures aren’t great, but the IT issue with the lighthouse lab dumped 11,000 additional positive results on to Wales figures, if they’d have been drip fed through as and when they were recorded the numbers would have increased but at a much lower rate. Peoples stupidity is a driver in the increase, I think areas where Covid was exceptionally high should have been subject to road blocks staffed by the military to prevent unnecessary travel etc, we should have learned our lessons from what happened in Italy where the successful state lived down and the unsuccessful states made token gestures at restrictions. | | | |

And there lies the problem, the rules are so easy to be broken and as you say there are few who can enforce them, I would put the army out in areas where the virus is at its highest.

The military has no jurisdiction or authority to enforce anything, it's down to the police only.

I think Parliament can grant the military temporary powers. Besides which you could put a road block up with one police officer and a few soldiers, who is going to argue? The police can retain control but backed up by the uniforms surely more people would take it seriously?

And your common man is that whom you work or live alongside with. One party states don’t work so pointless killing off the vile scum who have the temerity not to vote as their dad or grandad and his before did. Like sheep unable to free themselves from the hatred of bigotry and envy of the past. Labour voters ,to me, often look pitiful creatures but I respect their right to a free vote . I think those that hate the Tory so much they cannot hide it and often hurl abuse, they live in a dream land, themythical Labour ideal where the poor and vulnerable are raised up, where the rich are brought down to a common level; a level where the gap between rich and poor is negligible. You know, that world that wilnever exist. Those Labour idealists would they turn down a multi million lottery win? Would they share it out with as many as possible only keeping enough to pay off all debts? No the truth is, in very many cases, they revile the rich because they themselves are not rich. They aren't happy with what they've got and desire more. It's also amazing to me how many rich and famous people hate the tories. It's very easy to be a person of high principles when you are loaded and live a life of luxury but you don't see many of them giving most of their wealth away, no they earned that so they keep it. People are stupid.

The only thing I have to thank my father for was being brought up to think for myself and to make judgements accordingly. He never ever told me who he voted for nor did my mum. They had abject contempt for all politicians if not mistrust. I can remember a hot of bad things when Labour were in power;industrial anarchy, social anarchy and illegal wars for example. You commies have to realise some wonderfully decent people vote Tory as is the case with labour. No voter should be refered to as scum or vile because of how he votes although I struggle with Sein Fein voters .
